I have noticed lately that 700 Club does not always air at 11 pm as it use to on ABC Family. Did ABC Family get out of its contract obligations, or are they scheduling it at different times now? How long must ABC Family air 700 club (like how many years is the contract to run?). This of course was a stipulation of the orignal sale of the Family channel to Fox, then to ABC.

What is the status of 700 Club on ABC Family?

I don't think the Devil (Pat Robertson) is going to let them off that easy. I know that there is also a clause that the network must maintain the name "Family" in it. ABC was wanting to change the name of the network to XYZ, but that clause stopped them from doing so.
After Robertson made those comments after the Dover, PA school board was ousted (intelligent design debacle), ABC Family added a disclaimer to the program. ABC Family is not happy with it, but as long as they get the Devil's cash, I suspect they will stick with it.

While many of you dislike television ministries, most of them have to pay
air time to stay on the air, and while there are six of those are being looked
into by Washington for violating their "tax-exempt" status, we should not

I admit i'm not one of those who supports christian television programs,
i believe you should give to the church you attend first.

No, it wasn't. TBN only airs the show on weekdays, and they replace the fundraisers with repeats.

Tele-ministries buy time to ask for money so that they can stay on the air and ask for more money. Nice way to angle a racket.
Many religious people, such the ones previously mentioned, make sweeping remarks about people, such as "Hollywood is immoral"; "Gays are evil"; "Rock and Roll is Satan's music", and so on.
Seems to me that if they can make judgemental statements about groups of people, then people can make sweeping judgemental statements about religion. The street goes two ways, much to the chagrin of evangelical types. Oh, how they must hate the very idea of an actual democracy!
Many people do not attend church of any kind. I, and I'm sure many others, will not be guilt-tripped or scared into giving money to people who want another mansion, a new private jet, jewelry, or expensive designer clothes.
Every Monday morning at midnight. BET plays these 30 minute programs from people like Peter Popoff, WV Grant,
Don Stewart. I don't know how much they pay the network. But I recall. WV Grant had some credability issues back in the 90's. When Primetime Live did a segment on him.

Of course, stations owned by Max Media, which is controlled by Pat's son, carried the telethon as well, pre-empting sports programming, especially in Traverse City, where WGTU bumped NBA Basketball, to the usual ire of basketball fans, then refused to show the remainder of the game, replacing it with infomercials.
Luckily, Barrington Broadcasting, the owners of WPBN, is buying WGTU, meaning the probable end to The 700 Club and the telethons on that station. Unless they are saddled with an eternal contract like ABC Family.

Back in the early 80s, I was working in the Gold Coast area of SoCal. Gorgeous area. The local NBC station, Channel 6 in San Luis Obispo (don't remember the calls) pre-empted "Late Night With David Letterman" (he was in Conan O'Brian's current timeslot on NBC back then) with "The PTL Club" with Jim and Tammy Bakker. People in that area without cable were needless to say quite unhappy.

And his violent, hate-filled rhetoric is no different than the stuff spouted by the likes of Osama bin Laden. He deserves no respect whatsoever just because he claims to be a 'reverend.' He's a charlatan and a hypocrite.
Guys like Roberston, Falwell, Dobson and the others like them say the things they do ( IMO ) just so they can keep their names in the news.
Dittos with that Fred Phelps and his "cult" that goes out protesting funerals, private homes or whatever..
If the TV cameras weren't there, they would stay in Kansas. Too bad a lot of the media doesnt pick this up.
700 Club and ABC Family, I am sure there is a legal loophole somewhere that ABC/Disney can get out of airing the 700 Club if it really wanted too. But chances are they dont want to deal with Pat Roberston and start a 'holy war". Thats my guess. Dont want to make waves.
Similar situation happened in my hometown a number of years back.There was this disc jockey who was simply horrible. However he had a disability. When his radio station was sold to new owners there was some agreement where the new owners can fire anyone they want after they get their hands on the place..everyone except the announcer in question. They kept him on the staff desite how bad he was on the air. Guess the fear of bad press of firing someone who is disabled may have played a role here. However a few years later when Clear Channel bought the station, they found a way to finally get rid of him.

While Disney may have the money to fight Pat Roberston and get his show off their channel, its not going to take rocket science to know that Robertson will take to his airwaves and slam ABC and Disney for doing it and with that could be a backlash ( the man still has his supporters ). You might even get the state of Virginia involved since Pat still has a lot of weight there such as his show being aired in all of that state's markets and on prime channels and on good timeslots examples WAVY-TV 10 in Hampton Roads ( top 50 market...channel 10...NBC affilate and in the morning prime ), How many other similar stations do this?
In the past I have seen preachers do crazy things, even at the smallest of radio stations when they found themselves being taken off the air.
