Re: What is wrong with "Classic Rock 102.9 MGK" (WMGK 102.9 FM) In your opinion
MGK and all classic rock stations take the few artists they do play and trim each artist's 10 to 20 year discography down to 3 songs. They'd probably pair it down to less than 3 songs, but I guess you need 3 to play a "Rock Block" or "Triple Shot". And if one of the few artists they do play, is still recording today, they don't play anything new. As far as MGK is concerned, everybody's career ended around 1985.
Is MGK supposed to be a station for people who back in the day listened to MMR and then they grew up? If so, where are the regional classics from Hall & Oates, Southside Johnny, Robert Hazzard, The A's, John Eddy etc.
And beyond the regional classics, are these not classic artists from the heyday of MMR - UFO, Thin Lizzy, Robin Trower, Cream, Rossington-Collins Band, Al Stewart, Molly Hatchett, Outlaws, Uriah Heep, Foghat, Dave Mason, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Humble Pie, Asia and on and on.
If what classic rock stations put on now is the best they can do, then sink the format.
