What markets still have EZ listening or Nostalgia formated stations

I live in Wilmington Delaware # 75 which is a rim shot away from #6 Philly. Neither market has an EZ listening or Nostalgia formated radio station. In the top 100 markets, which have either of these formats? Are they commercial stations or non-comm stations. The only station in Wilmington that plays any nostaliga music is the U of Del station WVUD, but that is only a special show on Sunday nights and Philly's WPHT that plays the Sid Mark Sinatra shows on the weekend, but no station is the place to go for Nostalgia or EZ listening in either of these two top 100 markets. Philly's WRTI does play Classical during the day and Jazz at night, but not nostalgia or EZ listening.

Portland has KKAD, 50/12.5Kw on 1550, a signal that covers little more than half the market in the daytime and markedly less at night. It's MOYL for those who can hear it.

Memphis (#49) and Jackson, MS (#118) both have stations programming nostalgia/standards. WMPS 1210 AM is owned by Flinn and affiliated with MOYL. It's relatively new to the format, picking it up after WJCE 610 dropped Westwood One's Adult Standards to go with Air America Radio.

WLEZ 103.7 FM (wlezfm.com) is a low-power station licensed to the Mississippi International Film and Video Festival. It serves immediate downtown Jackson and is affiliated with Timeless Favorites, which may or may not be a nostalgia format based on your personal opinion. WLEZ, however, is a great "local" station with much flair and community programming.

Boston has WJIB-740 (licensed to Cambridge, Mass) An EXCELLENT EZL/Standards/SoftAC station. And for only 250 watts, the station gets out surprisingly well (only about 10 watts at night, though) Locally produced too, not a satellite-fed station..

Next time you get to Boston check it out.

#172 - San Luis Obispo, CA (sorry, not a top 100) - Dial Global / Westwood One Adult Standards - KKJL 1400. All Satellite - All the Time! Yuck. Online at 24k.

(I miss the old WTUX in Wilmington, incidentally. Listened for years.)

Fresno (#66) has KJWL "The Jewel," which broadcasts over the air at 99.3 Fm and online at kjwl.com, is a locally-produced standards station, though I think it positions itself as soft AC now. (it without a doubt comes closer to nostalgia, though, than Timeless, with artists like Nat King Cole, Bennett and Sinatra still regularly in the mix.)

It was originally affiliated with Westwood One Standards, then cut back to weekends only, opting to program weekdays on its own. I don't think they use any Dial Global programming now, but could be wrong. Anyway, the morning show is very good; used to listen frequently on the Web.

And the station fares very nicely in the ratings books.

Let's see...

Dallas-Fort Worth (#5) - KAAM 770 AM
Seattle (#14) - KIXI 880 AM (MOYL)
Phoenix (#15) - KOY 1230 AM (Dial Global with local morning show and John Tesh afternoons). There's also Beautiful Music KAHM 102.1 FM from Prescott which rimshots the Phoenix market.
Tampa (#19) - WDUV 105.5 FM "The Dove" - soft AC/oldies mix, a perpetual #1 12+ in the Arbs.
Denver (#22) - KEZW 1430 AM and KTNI "Martini on the Rockies" 101.5 FM
Pittsburgh (#24) - WJAS 1320 AM
Charlotte, NC (#33) - WNMX 106.1 FM (Timeless Favorites)
Columbus (#37) - WMNI 920 AM - formerly WW1 Standards, but now local DJs/automation
Tucson (#61) has no fewer than FOUR standards or soft AC stations: 580 KSAZ (Marana), 1030 KCEE (they call the format "Pop Classics"), 1080 KGVY (Green Valley but has a CP to change COL to Tucson according to Radio-Locator), and 1400 KTUC. All four are rated in the Arbs, believe it or not, and all are locally owned save for KTUC (Citadel).
Jacksonville (#47) also has multiple nostalgia-oriented stations - the two Jones College-owned stations (Beautiful Music, 90.9 WKTZ, and MOYL, 1220 WJAX) plus WSOS "Sunny" 94.1 FM, which plays soft AC/oldies similar to WDUV but younger and slightly more upbeat.
Akron, OH (#73) - WAKR 1590 AM - also formerly WW1 but now local. The music mix is still similar to Dial Global's but a bit younger - the last time I was able to hear them up here, they played "Coming Out of the Dark" by Gloria Estefan. (The song played just before that, though, was Nat Cole's "Mona Lisa.")

If you live near Philadelphia, can you pick up WRDV (89.3 FM) or any of its translators/simulcasts (91.7, 107.3, 97.1)? The core of their format seems to be Big Band/Nostalgia/Standards but they have some specialty shows, including Beautiful Music.

Buffalo (#52) no longer has its own standards station since 1230 WECK went Classic Country but Toronto's AM 740 CHWO gets into Buffalo very nicely.

Unfortunately, none of those come in at all in the Wilmington area, south of the city. Maybe someday, WRDV will put a translator in Wilmington like WRTI did at 107.7. Ah, it's great to be able to listen to Classical Music and Jazz on a solid signal rather than a distant rimshot that is static filled. Thanks, WRTI.

Honolulu (#64) has Adult Standards KHUI FM 99.5 the Jewel (Dial Global) and Soft AC/Oldies KRTR AM 650. 99.5 the Jewel features Sounds of Sinatra every Saturday morning from 9:00 to 11:00 AM. KRTR AM 650 has the same playlist as WDUV/Tampa.

I was looking for information on WDUV and discovered WDDV, which is simulcast on two AMs in the Sarasota, FL market, which is where WDUV is located. The WDDV playlist is great, while WDUV isn't worth my time.

Asheville, NC has WMXF, Dial Global, and WTZQ, Timeless, serving suburban areas but nothing that really has a good signal inside the city.

Greenville, SC has WMUU, a beautiful music station connected with the conservative Christian Bob Jones University. A lot of the music on weekends and late at night is Christian, and quite a bit of what they do during the week is classical, but it's like nothing you've ever heard if you're lucky enough to get it, as I occasionally do. Part of the market is covered by WHLC, a conventional easy listening station, and Dial Global WSNW, which is heavy on talk and doesn't have a nighttime signal to speak of.

Columbia, SC has WCAM (Music of Your Life) on the north end.

Charleston, SC has WLTQ (Music of Your Life), which is daytime-only if you're not in the immediate area, and part of the Hilton Head market is covered.

Fayetteville, NC has WAZZ, which I believe is Dial Global, and WIOZ, Music of Your Life, nearby (but not at night).

New Bern, NC has WNOS, a small AM, and I was reading that WANG-FM gave up on Jack and went back to standards.

Elizabeth City, NC has WCNC/WZBO.

Myrtle Beach, SC has WEZV/WYEZ, usually #1 in the Arbitron ratings, and easy listening with a slight lean toward AC, but just enough of the standards.

Knoxville, TN has WOEZ, which changed from easy listening to standards.

Charlotte's WNMX was listed, I noticed, and people who come to this board know what Timeless is, but they play a lot of loud stuff in the morning that is more suited to oldies. On the other hand, they still play a lot of the songs Timeless has quit doing too. Mostly when it's requested.

Nashville, TN has WAMB, which doesn't show up in the Arbitrons.

KWXY-FM in Palm Springs, Calif. runs a beautiful music format that sounds as if it's changed very little in the 40 years since this station has signed on. Amazingly, this station is live and local 24/7, with air personalities present behind the mic around the clock. Unfortunately, they don't stream, but you can get an idea of what this station is about from their website: www.kwxy.com .

I'd think in a place like Palm Springs, it would have a very loyal following. You'd think it would be big in places like most of Florida, the Hill Country and other retirement communities of Texas, Monterrey - Carmel, California, Hilton Head Island, etc. Come to think it some form of BEZ or Standards is doing OK in most of those places, although I think Hilton Head is underserved.

No kidding. From what I've heard, what was one of the best standards stations anywhere has turned into AC garbage.

I read that the Charleston MOYL station can be picked up inland but not there along the coast.
