What one new big thing would YOU like to see in Louisiana Radio?

It would be hard to answer my own question because there is so much room for improvement. No commercial venue for new music from "Classic" artists. Bowie, Springsteen, Alice Cooper, all have new releases and it's a big secret in Southern Louisiana. Classic Country? One venue, hard to catch. Big Bands, 40's and "Music of your Life"? Nowhere. Alternative Country like Nanci Griffith, Lyle Lovett, Kim Richey? OZ or "American Routes" if you're lucky. No venue. 24 hour Jazz? Look it up in the 800 section of your cable TV.

The number one "New Big Thing" I'd like to see in local radio? REAL Classic Rock. Not top 40, 50, 80, Real Classic Rock from The Summer of Love through today. New stuff from old rockers. A "WRNO" resurection. I'm tired of talk, I'm done with sports. Is it too much to ask? Apparently so.

What would be yours?

Garland fired for being a liar, cheater, and for being paid to comment.

He is a scam.

I can't believe WWL has kept him on the air.

How pathetic. How can look at what happened and act like there is nothing dirty there?

He is a scam and a fraud. Do the listeners a favor you fools. Fire that goon and recover some of your reputation which has already been destroyed.

Most of the so called "air talent" to have some credible talent.

A real "Oldies" station would be nice, not "The Best Of The '70's, '80's, '90's & Today", and not "True Oldies From The '60's & '70's", but a good, down-to-Earth Oldies station with Fats Domino, Chuck Berry, Bill Haley, Dion & The Belmonts, The Platters, etc.

There is a hole for that in my market. So many rimshots here and one of them does that (via satellite)... However, they are so weak, it is difficult to listen to. I think the problem with that format (here at least) is that it does well for a year or two, then tanks. Maybe if the format was reinvented, broadened a bit, and programmed correctly, it would work.

An EDM format in all seven major Louisiana cities.

Also, an alt rock format in all major Louisiana cities that offer a highly enrolled university.

Lastly, a creation of 99-5, KNGT, "The Nugget," in Lake Charles. This station would air a 90s Alt Rock format that may not get great ratings in Lake Charles, but would also cover Beaumont and Lafayette with its powerful signal. With this powerful signal, I would put up billboards from Mont Belvieu to Breaux Bridge, advertising the frequency and the website. The website would be what generates revenue, as it is a unique narrowcaster, but it is also a real radio station with down home DJs, which would appeal to listeners all over the US.

"Down Home" dj's don't get listeners. GREAT dj's get listeners...and with a 90's alt format...you had better have some great dj's because this format is as narrow as they come.

You should capitalize DJs, and not use an apostrophe.

Narrowcasting is where it's at. You can pick up a good number of listeners. Look at 93-5 in Miami.

How about something original.....in Lafayette a weak ripoff of "The Most Interesting Man in the World" concept is running for a used car dealer.

...."Stay lazy and unimaginative my friend"....

I still dearly miss KWKH. It was the station that turned me on to country music. Maybe keep the same format, but have an hour or two in the evening dedicated to "outlaw" country music, such as Hank III, Shooter Jennings, Hayes Carll; all the new artists that never get airplay,
