I was watching some game show in 1986 when John Palmer, the news anchor on Today broke in with the bulletin that the Challenger space shuttle had exploded. This was on NBC. I wonder, did anyone of you have the experience of watching a show and it was preempted by something major occurring?

Sunday Night Baseball on ESPN when Saddam Hussein was captured.
Did they go right to the national fox feed?

I was going to ask you to confirm that because I remember waking up Sunday morning and seeing Paul Bremmer starting his press conference with "Ladies and gentlemen, we got him." on Fox News
I'm pretty sure they did, although I didn't see it. I had to leave for work almost immediately after the 2nd plane hit, and IIRC they were still local at the time.
