What station in PHILLY is the best sportstalk station?

WIP is still better. While it has toned it down over the years, hard to argue that the Fanatic is better when 'IP has the Eagles and Phillies; the two biggest teams in town.

In the morning, Angelo & the Morning Team has the edge as its local and has good guests. I prefer straight sports talk without knowing about Angelo's personal life and some of the other nonsense on that show at times. (And his chats with the young ladies are creepier now than 20 years ago). I'm not a fan of the Mike & Mike show but if there is a huge national story, I have checked in a couple of times.

I really have not listened enough to the midday teams on either station to really have an opinon. I'm sure Barkann is competent on WIP. And Bruno does his thing on the Fanatic. Ill throw in Jon & Sean in this group. Overall, there's no edge.

In the afternoon, I give the edge to Missanelli. His program has a good flow to it and he has always been a great host. He also benefits by having great locally based ESPN experts in Sal Pal & Stark as frequent guests.

During weekends, WIP has the edge. The best sports talk program all week is Macnow and Didinger, when its on. Eskin does his thing on Saturday mornings. Frankly, except for Brian Startare (who came from WIP). I can't name another weekend host on the Fanatic.

What's great though is both stations should survive. Having the Flyers and Sixers should help the Fanatic.

The Philies are the second team in town only when they're successful. The Flyers are #2 when that's not the case.

I prefer the Fanatic [WPEN] to WIP-FM for Phillycentric sports talk. For national sports talk, I prefer Dan Patrick and Jay Mohr on WWTX 1290 The Ticket [Fox Sports Radio]. 1290 is in Wilmington so technically not a Philly station, but South Philly should be able to get it quite well during the dayparts, don't know about the rest of Philly.

Jim Rome on WIP-AM is good too via CBS Sports Radio.
