What syndicated shows would you like to see picked up in Pittsburgh?

I almost hate to ask this, because it would seem to take away local jobs.

But we've been talking about various syndicated shows like Bubba the Love Sponge or

But with the reputation of Pittsburgh being that the city is often late in adopting radio trends (such as not adopting a full-time sports station for many years after the format was thriving throughout the country, Pittsburgh didn't carry Rush Limbaugh live longer than any other city in America except for Philadelphia, etc.), what syndicated shows would you like to see carried locally?

Here are my picks-

A- House of Hair with Dee Snyder. I'm a fan of the music and I think he puts on a fun, active show for us Gen Xers. WDVE has embraced the '80s recently with their playlist. I would hope they might embrace the show, which was previously carried on K-Rock.

B- Imus in the Morning. Though not the same show it was on WFAN/MSNBC- it still gets the best guests in news. Whereas most other political shows are biased and make excuses when their party falters, you get a true sense of conventional wisdom listening to Imus.

C- Tony Bruno. Perhaps the best sports talk show host in the history of the format. That's high praise, but Bruno is certainly one of the greats in his field and like Cope or Ken Beatrice, engages the listener instead of alienating him or her.

D- Sporting News Radio. People say it is the third-string sports network, but their programming is likely stronger than anything on FOX and lacks the bias of ESPN.

E- Liz Wilde. Because she's hot.

F- Monica Crowley. See above. Yes- YOU CAN SEE THEIR BEAUTY ON THE RADIO! Wilde interviewing classic rock stars and pushing Hillary on us, Crowley playing Duran Duran and talking about hanging with Nixon- it's all good! Crowley used to be on the weekends on WPTT.

G- Alan Colmes. Perhaps the best liberal talk show in America.

And, of course, I'd like to have Dennis Miller carried live.

1) THE ENTIRE AIR AMERICA LINE-UP.

2) SCOTT SHANNON

3) ANYBODY WHO PLAYS 50'S OLDIES AND DOO WOP.

I am only thinking of these shows for AM stations who are dead in the water now. My mother loved Tom Hartman . She doesn't do online streaming, so I just would like Air America as a Chunakkah gift for all the old hard core New Deal liberals living lonely lives at the Maxon Towers.

Mike Gallagher! I really enjoy his approach and sincerity! Micheal Reagna also does a nice job, I catch him on XM when on the road at night. Being a conservative but not an "ax grinder" I am able to glean information from people like Mike Gallagher & Reagan , Bill O'Reilly, Mike Huckabee on Tv and the like. I have little or no time for Rush, Shawn, Savage etc who stick to the "My Way or The Highway " Approach

Gallagher is actually carried on WPIT- AM 730.

He is on overnights and also from 5-6 on weekdays.

I realize that's not live, but still. He is on the air.

Randi Rhodes !!! - progressive and proud of it

Ed Schultz - a talk show for the average working person

Lionel - a talk show for people who want to actually think critically (imagine that!) as opposed to being told what to think

No, no, no. He was washed up 5 years before Bernard got him fired from WFAN. He's just old & tired now.

Does he have a show at the moment? Last I heard he did a few fill-ins for Dan Patrick.

That's a relative term.

I was a big fan of Dr. Demento. I believe 104.7 carried it on Sunday nights way back in the day. He seemed like an older man back then. Is he or a version of his show (perhaps hosted by one of his relatives) still around? Thanks for the memory.

Yeah. he still does his show, but his sindication is down to about a half a dozen stations. Since he doesnt really fit into any marketable demo, he found it difficult to get advertising.

You can still get his show online, if you pay a fee. But that isn't as much fun as turning into an AM station late at night to pick him up.

The people who like Ramsey really like Ramsey, but he doesn't get ratings for the most part. He does best either in quasi-Christian talk formats like PIT-AM or on stations that also broker time. That doesn't mean he can't be on a good signal (like 620), but he'd never end up on a KD or 104.7 in a meaningful daypart.

Having said that, if someone like KQV wanted to reinvent themselves a bit he wouldn't be horrible fit there.

IIRC, Dr. Demento was on 94.5 [WPEZ] in 1978, and WDVE in the summer of '79. In the '80s I used to listen to him on Pitt's station WPTS.
