What the ....? Is RAMAR still running MyLubbock LP 14? Wikipedia says otherwise

Maybe someone here can help me out with this. I was wandering around on Wikipedia again (because, that's what I like to do with my free time), when I discovered that somebody changed the information on the in-house stations run from KJTV Fox 34. Under KMYL (My Lubbock LP 14), somebody claimed it was a satellite to KASY UPN 50 in NM. And, they added a link.

This is news to me!
So I checked the Wikipedia page for KASY. Indeed Ramar did own Channel 50 but sold it a while ago, and Acme TV dropped all previous agreements. Meanwhile, I don't recall UPN Lubbock EVER running TV 50 programming. And I'm not aware of ANY plan for KMYL to be run by somebody other than RAMAR.

So what's the deal? Is there a change in plans, or is somebody who doesn't know anything posting junk to Wikipedia?

Wikipedia is a nice site, but it is hard to know how accurate it is. I suspect this is wrong. You might check out the KJTV website. They seem to have links to all of their stations there.

Thank but I've already been to the KJTV website, and the sections on CW and MY do not address this.

Does anybody actually know the answer to this?

Actually, the KJTV website does seem to address it. They wouldn't have links to The CW Lubbock or My Network TV Lubbock if they didn't run them. Now whether Ramar is running the station in New Mexico is the only question to answer about the validity of the Wikipedia post.

Ok, I think you are not understanding my question, so let's try this again everybody...

Right now, today, Ramar operates 3 english network affiliates in Lubbock. Those stations are UPN Lubbock on LP 14, WB 22, and Fox KJTV 34.

Now, I know that:
The UPN Lubbock station is a locally run UPN affiliate, which according RAMAR is supposed to become MyLUbbock TV in Sep, and on the air, the station is now calling itself MyLubbockTV, but is still running UPN shows. It is a local station.

I also know that:
When WB ceases and CW begins, 22, which runs WB 100+ will start running CW 100+, as it does now, wall-to-wall, except for the overnight which reverts to shop at home networks for both 22 and 14.

I also know that LP 14 also translates in Hobbs, while 22 is full power.

Ok, that's all the given stuff.

MY QUESITON IS THIS:
What I'm asking is, why did somebody go onto the KJTV Lubbock page on Wikipedia, and change the information to claim that MyTV will instead be a satellite of My50 from ALBQ NM? The information on the page used to be correct, and somebody changed it. Why would they do this? Is something up?

If anyone knows, please say. Otherwise, I already know what the Fox34 website says officially. I'm looking for more than that. There is a controversy here...

Sorry, I misunderstood. I wouldn't worry too much about what Wikipedia says. As has been stated earlier, it's easy to change a Wikipedia listing. I could go on their now and write that Ramar owns the Walt Disney company, or that Wal-Mart purchased every station in the Lubbock market. It wouldn't make it true.

Why did someone post this information about the station in New Mexico? Who knows. Maybe they thought it was right at the time the wrote it.

Well, that's my question, maybe there is something to this, otherwise, why go to the trouble of changing it?
Tested, I thank you for your input.

Ok class, somebody who hasn't already been called on yet?

Neither. While Wikipedia can be a handy resource, the fact than anyone can change the information makes it unreliable as a single source, in spite of the constant admonition to post only verifiable information.

In this case, the person who put in the KASY information is generally very knowledgeable; he just made a mistake this time. The KASY info was removed on 8/6 by another person who is generally knowledgeable, but once replaced correct information that I had posted with incorrect information, which I had to go back and change. I've even posted incorrect information - unintentionally, of course, just like the others I've mentioned here - and had to go back and correct it.

This question would have been much more appropriate on the discussion page on Wikipedia's KJTV-TV article, had it been there. It wasn't, but you could have added one if you were logged in. I put one in now.

A lot of times, what happens is that the people posting these articles don't live in the market and have never seen the station. They do the best that they can, but information isn't always easy to come by, especially in smaller markets. I've been trying to fill in Montana stations lately - not easy. If you wanted to become a contributor and take on the responsibility to keep Lubbock up-to-date, that would be a big help.

Thank you Dave.
I thoiught about adding a comment over there, but I'm not sure of my Wikipedia password anymore (I need to write that stuff down somwehere I guess, LOL)

Re: What the ....? Is RAMAR still running MyLubbock LP 14? Wikipedia says otherw

No kidding. You get so many different websites wanting passwords, you either have to use the same password on 25 different sites, or try to remember 25 different passwords. I finally started keeping a spreadsheet with hints to all of my passwords, since I use about 5 or 6, but need to know which one goes where.
