What will the Predictions in the next 10 years for SF radio be?

I think more people will give up buying FM and AM radio over 10 years and The ratings for AM and FM stations will drop like boulders in the next 10 years as more people use internet radio on their MP3 players and cell phones to get news and music. The Internet and cell phone system will have to improve in the next 10 years to it can withstand an earthquake.
 
Less local programming, More Voice tracking, Companies like Cheap Channel, CBS, and Cumulus with go with Central hubbing of formats from one source (CC is already doing it.), All morning shows will be syndicated.
 
Radio ain't dead or dying. It's evolving.

Shoot, I can already stream thousands of so-called "Internet stations" -- including our own Classic KYA and Classic KABL -- through my Android smartphone (sounds great with stereo earbuds or on the car's audio system) with G3/WiFi.

The phone cost me next to nothing. My monthly phone plan doesn't cost much. I listen to KNX or KCBS, K-Earth 101 or WCBS-FM, KGO or the BBC, no matter where I am.

Essentially, smartphones are turning into transistor radios. I'm not a techno-geek; if I can do it, anybody can.

The timetable isn't ten years. This is upon us now.

Not hardly. Considering the excellent physical health he's in -- watching his diet, running five miles a day, laying off the stogies and the sauce, no known health issues -- I'd say El Rushbo is primed and ready to stay on top well into the next decade.

Thanks to the excellent American health care system that treated Rush no differently in the hospital than any other citizen, regardless of his fame and couple-hundred million he has in the bank.

Here's the difference. Rush pays cash for all his healthcare. He does not have to carry insurance. You and I will need to show Government Issued Cards and wait in line. Believe me CASH or CARD who's getting the service first?

Moral of the story, work hard earn as much as you can and pay your own way, don't depend on ANY government to take care of you.

I was attempting to be ironic when I made my remark about El Rushbo. I don't disagree with you, except that most of us aren't talented, smart, or fortunate enough to be anywhere near his income level. My upper-middle class income is probably in the Top 3 or 4 percent of all Americans, but a catastrophic health event would ruin me financially in a hurry if I weren't covered by my employer.

In the last couple years of her life, my mother-in-law's "government" health care (Medicare) covered her quite well, and would have cost us hundreds of thousands of $$$. People knock the government way too much, in my opinion.
 
What about the Format wars between HD Radio, XMSirius and Web Radio. I think Web Radio will beat HD Radio and XM completely. I see HD Radio and XM going away like Betamax Video did 30 years ago. Mount Sutro and San Bruno mountain needs impove and secure their Wifi and cell phone antennas in the next 10 years before the next quake comes.

If IPV6 ever becomes widely accepted by wireless providers (which I think is totally possible in 10 years) then UDP multicasting over IP can become a reality. With UDP multicasting many receivers can listen to one stream. The benefits are obvious. If 10,000 people want to listen to KGO online they can do it with one UDP stream, not 10,000 TCP streams as is done today. This (UDP multicasting) is already done on private networks with financial data. It's not a huge leap at all to make it happen via RF. The standards are well-conceived and reliable.
