What would you like to see in the SF radio dial?

If there were a 'modern' equivalent of the ' full service MOR' format of the '60s and 70s(one that didn't sound enough 'light rock' to be called 'adult contemporary', yet clearly not 'old' enough to be lumped in with standards), then I'd revive KSFO with that sort of format. I'd also have sports programming, like the old KSFO did, and a bit more of a 'free-form' music format the rest of the time.(for instance, a 'comedy hour' show, similar to the long-running evening show that ran for years) So, more of the 'post-Don Sherwood' KSFO of the '70s and early 80s, as well as the post-King Broadcasting takeover period, before they switched to oldies. Not sure if DJs really have 'personalities' these days, at least not the sort of personalities that would fit in with the spirit of the 'old school' KSFO, as well as more modern tastes.

I'd bring back KABL for more of an 'adult standards/big band/jazz/old radio shows' format, where it would be more tightly-formatted music-driven, and somewhat less about DJs.

And I'd revive KFRC for an oldies station, but would flush the 'same 400-500 songs played over and over, and counted down on holiday weekends' format, and open it up to play anything and everything that would be available by all the familiar 'classic oldies' artists, not just the 'big hits everybody remembers.' All those forgotten B-sides would be played here, in addition to the usual stuff.

It would do better than the AM can,but It would still be a pretty big waste, I think Citadel would have better luck making 1310 an ESPN affilate, maybe even ESPN Desportes

Point of order: Citadel does not own 1310; Disney still does. Those stations are administered (last I heard) under Disney Channel. And they're pretty much a promo expense for other Disney properties although they do try to self-support with local sales.

On second thought...Here is my ideal FM radio line-up:

Here is mine:

92.3 KSJO - Mainstream Adult Contemporary (Sunny 92.3)
92.7 KNGY - Dance Music (Energy 92.7)
93.3 KYA - Rock Oldies
94.1 KCNL - Alternative Rock (Channel 94-1)
94.5 KBAY - Top 40 (B94-5)
94.9 KLOK - MOR Adult Contemporary
95.3 KRTY - Country
95.7 K??? - Modern Adult Contemporary (95.7 The Mix)
96.5 KOIT - Classic Rock Hits (96-5 The Drive)
97.3 KLLC - Hot Talk (FREE-FM)
98.1 KISQ - Rhythmic Oldies
98.5 KUFX - Classic Rock (98.5 The Fox)
98.9 KSOL - Spanish (Regional Mexican)
99.7 KYLD - Rhythmic Top 40 (WiLD 99-7)
100.3 KBRG - Spanish Oldies
100.7 KVVF - Latin Urban
101.3 KIOI - Hot Adult Contemporary (Star 101-3)
102.1 KDFC - Smooth Jazz
102.5 KDON - Rhythmic Top 40
102.9 KBLX - Urban Adult Contemporary
103.7 KABL - Country (103-7 The Bull)
104.5 KFOG - AAA
105.3 KITS - Album Oriented Rock (105.3 The Bone)
106.1 KMEL- Urban Contemporary
106.5 KEZR - ALL '80s (Planet 106-5)
106.9 KFRC - Top 40
107.7 KSAN - Sports (ESPN 107.7)
I'd say this is one of my favorites, although for 106.5, instead of All '80s I'd make it a 80s/90s hybrid like ToNY 101.1 HD-2 in NYC
a station I listen to online a lot, Its worth a listen http://player.radio.com/player/RadioPlayer.php?version=1.1.9205&station=117
Also I'd make 94.1 KGO-FM and 103.7 KNBR-FM.
