What's going on with ESPN Radio in the Miami Market?

Working from Midnight to 10 AM, I got so used to hearing Mike and Mike in the morning on 940 AM, the Sports Animal. It was replaced by Jeff Deforrest and Steve Goldstein some time ago. Now as of Thursday night, Sportscenter All Night on 790 AM, the Ticket, it was replaced by reruns of the Morning show and the Dan Lebatard Show like they have on 104.3 FM overnight.

Anybody know why these changes were made? Is there a new station that will be carrying ESPN Radio in the Miami Market? As of Friday, Cowherd was still heard on 790 the ticket.

BTW, I know since 760 AM in Palm Beach carries ESPN radio, it cannot be played on 104.3 FM until the station is finally moved to the Miami Market.

Miami has more Sports stations than most markets in the U.S.

560 WQAM Miami, affiliated with Yahoo Sports
640 WMEN Royal Palm Beach, affiliated with NBC Sports
760 WEFL Tequista, affiliated with ESPN
790 WAXY So. Miami and 104.3 WAXY-FM West Palm Beach, affiliated with ESPN but because of WEFL doesn't carry ESPN programs.
940 WINZ Miami, affiliated with Fox Sports
1210 WNMA Miami, affiliated with ESPN Deportes

CBS Sports is the only large 24 hour Sports Network with no Miami affiliate. Maybe when WAXY-FM moves into the Miami market, they will start running some ESPN programming again.

560 WQAM dropped Yahoo for CBS

And one more Sports station... 1400 WFLL Fort Lauderdale, also an ESPN affiliate. So that makes five ESPN affiliates in the area, WAXY-AM, WAXY-FM, WEFL-AM, WEFL-FM and WFLL.

So if the original post is about ESPN Radio in the Miami Market, having five affiliates ito hear at least some ESPN programming is quite a lot, even if WAXY-FM isn't able to run full-length ESPN shows yet.

1400 WFLL bit the sports dust over 3 years ago. It had a year or two run as ethnic Caribbean IIRC, and now it's Portuguese---maybe Portuguese Christian, not sure.

Wow. I can remember when 1400 was a pretty well-programmed Talk station that had local hosts most of the time. I knew one of the weekend hosts. And it got decent ratings despite the limited signal. But with 850, they shifted the Talk programming there and turned 1400 into an ESPN affiliate. Now it serves the Brazilian community in Fort Lauderdale.
