Whats people's opinions of Colin Cowherd?

Its been over a month of him in New York, and quite frankly...

-Is it too hard for a little banter with callers who disagree with him? Quite often its

Caller: Well Arod hasn't done the job in the big spot...

Colin: What did he do against Minnesota in last years ALDS? I believe he CARRIED the Yankees to the ALCS. Okay now we go to Tim in St. Louis, you're on The Herd...

-Do we really need college football talk in late spring and early summer? He went off once saying how all the numbers say the listeners demand football talk, uh Colin, ya might want to back that up with a source? And can you quanify those numbers other than the fact that the NFL blitzes (err pun not intended) all other sports?

-Not a Herd thing (though there is a Football Fix on the show every day) but does ESPN Radio need to run a show called "In The Huddle" EVERY Saturday? Even baseball gets tedious and repetivitve during the real lulls in its offseason and doesn't deserve any real talk, ditto with the NFL

-He hasn't shown much appreciation or knowledge for anything that happened prior to 2000. For example, he appeared clueless when it came to baseball's amphetamine epidemic which has been known since the days of Ball Four back in the 1960's!

I honestly don't know how he does anything ratings wise. Lord knows how bad he's been doing in NYC

Steve

He stinks and will be destroyed on the West Coast once Bruno's show goes national. ESPN has to be worried about how hard this guy is trying to appeal to the west coast with his "west coast" hours..when all he's trying to do is remove the ESPN stigma that all of the people in Bristol care about is the East Coast.

Another ESPN show afraid of callers and loaded with lame analysts like no-names Chad Ford, Tim Legler and any other 2nd rate writer or ex-player who will work for free just to say they work at ESPN. How you seen the turn-over of the heads at ESPNEWS. Looks like bad college t-v audition tapes!
ESPN will always be bad product because people are standing in line to work there, and once management had that kind of clout, all you get is no talents trying to do bad catch phrases at 2am.

Thats a good way of putting it. The reason you have callers is for discourse, not so you can sharpen your "one sided debate skills"

Using my ARod reference. He doesn't let the callers offer an explanation as to WHY they don't see ARod stepping up in the big moment. And he can't just come with the ALDS argument, or anything done during the early part of the year.

1) The Yanks were EXPECTED to roll over the Twins on their way to the ALCS, wheither Rodriguez was the main cog in the 3 wins or not

2) Forever ingrained in Anti-ARod fans heads is the infamous "slap" play and ARod's weak hitting in the ALCS, was it all his fault, no. But that was the real big stage and in their eyes ARod failed. Thats the argument, not a house of cards argument that Colin likes to say it is.

But that won't get pass Colin because he'll cut you off once you mention ARod hasn't come up big yet and basically give you a "I'm right, you're wrong and I just don't have time to debate" response

And the New York affliate kicked off Wally & The Keeg for this and the Steven A. Smith show?

They kicked off the Wally and Keeg show because they were AWFUL. Stephen A has a new york attitude..but doesn't have the time to do a 4 hour show..since since ESPN owns the joint..they just put Cowdung's show on for filler.

I listen to Cowherd on a regular basis.. Here is what I like and don't like.

Like
Spanning the Globe....good idea well done...but why do they ave to repeat a 10:30 Spanning the Globe at 12:00 pm?

I don't mind his football fix...when he has a guest..even when it is June and nothing really is happening in the Cowherd world of Football.

Sort of Like

His rants...he sometimes makes a good point in an entertaining way...However, like Rome and others he repeats the same point over and over.

Don't like

I commend Mr. Cowherd's football knowledge but have noticed that he is lacking in basketball and baseball expertise....I don't think he really cares about basketball.

As with most shows....I say more provacative guests and less blabber.
