What's the 411 on East Tennessee radio?

I didnt mind living in k-town ...but by far the worst place ive ever lived is Southwest Virginia in Hillsville,, near the NC boarder.Between Roanoke and tri cities. Horrible People, Horrible Radio,, ignorant and cocky conservative people, Horrible local generic whiskey and vodka... My favorite place to live for people and radio has been Indianpolis and Chicago,,, and by far, the best for people and weather is Myrtle Beach SC.. although the radio in the market isnt as great as it once was, it is easy to get frequent tropo up and down the coast and regularly listen to stations 200 miles away. Louisville isnt too bad either, but although ive never lived there, I hear people are nicer and radio is better in Lexington...

I haven't been to Myrtle since 1996. It is a beautiful place. When I was there in '96, it seemed that there were more radio station billboards per square mile there than anyplace else I had ever been. Of course this was before consolodation really took off.

How was DXing in the Knoxville area? How about in the mountains? It would seem if there isn't an 80/90 or translator on every frequency, there'd be some interesting possibilities.

Well I could easily pull in Asheville and Chatanooga and Tri cities stations in K-town,, also the 94.5, and the 98.1 in Lexington where frequent visitors before the dial got so crowded...

Did you encounter any ignorant and cocky liberal people in Hillsville? Just wondering.
