Whats the chances of Burbank's slot being non-syndicated?

It would be nice to have that time slot local. I'm not even sure if Gary's show was considered local or not anymore. My guess was that it was, not sure though.

It would be nice to have 12:30 till 6 PM 100% local programming.

More than likely Burbank's slot will remain local....WLW is all local excepty for syndicated shows that they originate. Aside from that, the spot load is too big for a syndicated show. I remember several years ago when Burbank was thinking of retiring there was speculation about Eddie Fingers moving over from WEBN.

Well, this will surely be interesting to see what happens to the slot. Although, whatever is decided, I'm sure I'll be disappointed. :D

Since it seems CC can do nothing right by you, why do you bother with them? Are the remaining choices so bad you have to settle for a group you dislike so much?

Maybe I'm naive, but I"m just figuring Cunningham will take over the Burbank slot.

Scott Sloan could take over midday, and nights could be Sterling. Just move everyone up a spot.

Now I am not willing to put the Sloan and Sterling predictions in ink, but I'd bet cash money that Bill Cunningham is the next afternoon drive host on WLW.

that would be interesting, as then you'd have willey and furball going head-to-head for a chunk of time. but doesn't sterling already have a gig in cols.?

What remaining choices?

Furman was fired several months ago for alleged racist comments during an on air inteview.

Yes, and now Furman is on afternoon drive on another station in Cincinnati. Meaning he would go against Willie if WLW tapped him as Burbank's replacement.

I believe that is what my Kermit-cuddling friend was saying.

I can't think of a reason why but I can never listen to Sterling for very long. I can't articulate why he doesn't hold my interest, but he just doesn't. That's why if I'm wrong with my prediction, I won't be too exorcised over it.

jack, that's precisely what i was saying. two guys who are still pals going after the drive home slot. but competition is exactly what this market so desperately needs! it's no fun when one kid has all the toys.

i like sterling. i like his style, his humor and his unusual conversational approach. i could see him taking on the mid-day spot at WLW, but what if... WLW follows the example of my former station of choice, WLS, and puts Rush on, and gives KRC sterling or some other second-tier talent? the idea of going from mcconnel to rush to willey gives me goose bumps. and i know, i know - WLW is historically all local programming, a la my former second choice, WGN, but the winds of change are a'blow'n around here and who knows what could happen with DP likely trying to save his job!

Anyone who believes Furman got fired for his remarks is drinking the CC Kool-Aid. It's all about money folks. Nice excuse though.

Cunningham makes sense on one point, but not on another....

Supposedly, Darryl Parks was saying the station wanted the afternoon post to be "entertainment", not
"news/talk" programming. Willie's show, like it or not, is conservative talk radio, not an entertainment-style show. And, that would seem to eliminate the suggestion of a McConnell/Rush/Willie lineup

Maybe Darryl is beginning to get it. Endless conservative talk and tier two sports guys are not "Entertaining".

Willie is entertaining until he starts wrapping himself in the flag. If he would begin listening to an opposing point of view and use his show to inform rather than to spout jingoism, then I would be a listener.

Well, this certainly came in the very timely manner when they laid off 20 of us.

I would love to see Scott Sloane moved up in the time slots. He'll be able to watch more of the hockey games.
