What's the deal with W221CE (92.1 Translator with a CP for 102.9)?

Well 102.9 is on and playing Thunder at the present time. I sure hope this is just a test since i don't see why you would need Thunder on 102.9 when 105.9 comes in clear in Tampa. I wish they would move Alt 100.3 over to 102.9 so it would cover the city since it does say Tampa's Bay New Alternative and you can't even hear the station at all in near there Studios in south Tampa.

With new ownership comes new calls...it's now W275AZ. Those are the translator's original calls from 2004.

Transmitter should be on the 4002 Gandy Blvd. IHR tower according to radio-locator. If the coverage map pattern on R-I for W275AZ is accurate, folks in Plant City who currently enjoy the WBF (Bartow) translator may have more interference when conditions are ripe. Will this be another fill-in for Thunder overall, or are they going to do something else with 105.9? 94.5 and 105.9 are practically left and right of this location. TX-wise.

It probably wont have anything to to with Thunder or ALT 100.3, as it looks as if IHeart spun this translator off to another company, American General Media.

Thunder's current coverage in that area is fine, anyhow (it's well within within 105.9's local contour).

Translators don't change callsign with ownership. They usually stay the same unless a channel change occurs...the number in the callsign IS the channel number followed by seq. issued letters...so it's moved from channel 221 (92.1) back to its original channel 275 (102.9) so its old callsign is being reissued.

Thanks for the info!

Still no signal from 102.9....just getting Ft. Myers "Bob FM" (and last night an occasional piece of WXXJ/X102.9 Jacksonville).

The license has been issued (which means they TOLD the FCC the station has been built and has been tested on the air...but guess how many lie??? :) )..........................................but that doesn't mean anything.

How about not doing a station for 98 Rock/WXTB's HD2 channel but WFLZ/93.3 FLZ's HD2 channel. After those testings, which the FCC is lying about , they should have either streaming for FLZ's HD2 and have Evolution 102.9 or another translator for ALT 100.3/102.9 because who wants static for Alternative Music in Tampa?! Well, nobody apart of people that like 97X, ironically their rival. Unless they want to DX Bob 102.9 from Ft. Myers, interfering the new station or Rumba 100.3 from Orlando intefering ALT. IDK what will happen...

102.9 was on the air Christmas Eve afternoon. It was once again transmitting "Thunder" but seemed really weak. Was getting it OK in the Westshore area but once I crossed the Howard Frankland into Pinellas I lost it. Broadcasting off the tower at the Gandy studios, it should easily come in better than that.... so there's no way in my opinion it's broadcasting at the full 250 watts.

Thunder's still broadcasting on 102.9.. wonder why the liners haven't included this frequency unless it's temporary. I was picking it up in my car as far north as Waters and Armenia earlier today.
