What's the story with CBS TV station in Detroit?

I'm posting this here because I don't think there's a Detroit TV forum on this website.

I'm watching cable TV in London Ontario and instead of seeing the CBS Sunday Evening news at 6:30 pm I'm seeing Montel Williams selling Obama coins.

Can someone explain if there is a local CBS tv affiliate in Detroit anymore, and if so why are they doing screwy things with the evening network news broadcasts?

Ok you ask...I answer

WWJ TV is the ONLY eyeball network O&O with no news department as we all know!
the CBS SATURDAY and SUNDAY EVENING NEWS are now aired at 6pm

So now you have to watch the CBS EVENING NEWS SATURDAY AND SUNDAY Editions at 6 on WWJ TV
thats SIX PM Saturday and Sunday ..not 6:30

Remember the guy who kept missing his favorite program because he did what the announcer told him to to do at the end of the program: "Tune in next week at this same time......"

So WWJ CBS channel in Detroit no longer has a news department?

I see that at 11pm today (Wednesday) they have no local news (instead I see 2 1/2 Men episode).

When did this start?

Sum-guy...here it is ..

Long ago in the land of Detroit, there was a newscast that kicked butt, it was a 10pm newscast done by WKBD UPN50, when CBS was bought by Viacom (owner of WKBD), unlike other CBS/Viacom duops where the CBS O&O produced the newscast for its sister (example ..WBZ produces the news for WSBK) in Detroit, WKBD produced the 11pm newscast for its CBS sibling...

But while ratings were golden, it was management stupidity that ruined the newscast (that and WJBK FOX2's 10pm newscast started stealing viewers) and on December 21st,2002 , "THE TEN O CLOCK NEWS" and CBSDetroit "EYEWITNESS NEWS" were cancelled and the news department shuttered.

the only thing they air now are "weather in a minute updates" just for WWJ 62
