What's worse than "Spackle and Paste" on a Saturday AM?

WEEI has Bob Costas' syndicated show from 7-9 AM on Saturday mornings. Once you get past the point of how absolutely full of himself he is, it's not bad. He gets good guests and there's some funny stuff on there. One caveat is it's a week behind.

costas has a very good program. of course, it pales in comparison to the show that immediately follows it on sat mornings. :D

;D

Uh, they did that not because they don't want it...they did it because they're waiting for a Democrat in the White House.

Uh, that happens to be wrong, but thanks for playing.

They did it because they finally got it through their thick skulls that the Fairness Doctrine works both ways (otherwise known as "be careful what you wish for"). They did it because they finally realized that every time a POV on their side was broadcast, there'd be 37 Republicans screaming for airtime to reply. They finally realized that trying to resurrect this dinosaur is a waste of time and effort...something that will not change once W is out of office.

The Fairness Doctrine is a dead letter...now AND after 1/20/09. The only people agitating for its return are Democratic bloggers with more stars in their eyes than brains in their heads, who seem to forget that all the GOP POVs on radio and TV were not enough to prevent...TWICE...the election of a Democrat to the presidency, nor were they enough to prevent the Democrats taking power in the House of Representatives, and sharing power in the Senate, after the last election.

anyone hear the new intro for the Howie Carr show... at the end there is a "old time radio" type voice over about the adventures of Captain Spackle and his sidekick Colon Wall. Ran several times friday afternoon. I almost spit out my coffee when I heard it.

Howie is off next week. Appropriately enough, as he ended his show last night, it went into
one of the spackle-or-paste spots. Cap'n Spackle rides again.

How bout proposing a Saturday Radio Show, we'll call it, Cranky Ole Bastards.

A round table complaining about the state of todays radio, newspaper, auto industry and wonder why people don't shop downtown no more? :-\

Actually...12 in a row...that's certainly a show a lot of people (connected with broadcasting or just interested in the business itself) would PROBABLY ENJOY?

Although...I'd rather call the show CREATIVE ORIGINAL BROADCASTERS! ;)

Definitely an opportunity to take listener phone calls...b**ch a little about the state of radio...and offer a few ideas to make MANY RADIO STATIONS sound better!

howie has been off every week for the last five years. he should apply for a job with us postal service because he has a vast experience with mailing it in. jason, why pay subs when you can just run howie replays and it will sound just like a live show he did last week or the week before last...call him groundhoug day howie...
