I use it as well - great site.

Stompy.com and djdownload.com are two others I visit and buy from regularly.

iTunes is also worth taking a look at; not necessarily the absolute best for dance music, but I've been pleasantly surprised by what's available on several occasions.

If you're in the industry New Music Server does a great job of getting you the product immediately. For a commercial download service, Itunes is OK, not everything but they're working on getting the licenses. Their categorization is a little strange though and for you dance heads, they really don't cover much.

Beatport is nice... they assembled a great collection of older underground dance tunes. It's also the only place I can find stuff from Chicago's IHR label group (Bad Boy Bill's label), although for the most part I still prefer vinyl anyway.

I'd love to have iTunes, they seem to have the best selection online... alas, I'm stuck with Windows 98 for the time being till I can upgrade to a newer PC with XP. I've used Real Rhapsody... their offerings are marginal, at best, but it's all I have for now. Rhapsody is a waste of time if you can access iTunes without any trouble.

Are these DRM files, mp3, or uncompressed WAV's?
I usually try to get promos if I can in stores, but they don't like selling to people not in the industry. It's a shame, because between not being allowed to buy promos and the annoying DRM restrictions on most legal download sites (iTunes,etc)I wind up downloading from Kazaa,etc. I'd rather buy the songs if I could do what I want with them. But DRM only allows a certain amount of copies and only plays in certain players. When I buy a song I want it to be the same as when I buy a CD.
And most dance music, as most of us know, is not that easily available in stores on CD's. I prefer to get the CD's. The audio quality of the songs on these "illegal" file trading sites is not always good.
If only the industry would stop suing people and instead focus on putting out CD's and downloads that people want and can afford.
Promo CDs should be available to the public for a reasonable price like $6.99 or $7.99. It'd definately be worth it. A good way for listeners in a certain music genre to get familiar with the new songs and artists, which would lead to album purchases.
