WSET becomes the third station east of the Mississippi to run
World News Tonight at 7/6 Central; the others are WSB/2 Atlanta
and WNCF/32 Montgomery, AL. Are there other ABC affiliates
moving WNT to the later time that I don't know about?

It's probably time that WDBJ freshened its 7-8 block. How
much longer could they keep rerunning Seinfeld and Frasier?

Doesn't "Wheel Of Fortune" and "Jeopardy" syndicator King World contractually insist that stations in the Eastern and Pacific time zones must run the two shows in the hour from 7 to 8 P.M. ET/PT (and Central/Mountain time zone stations must run one in the half-hour before local early-evening news and the other at 6:30 P.M. CT/MT)??

In New York one can watch Jeopardy and Wheel at 6 PM and 6:30 PM on WLNY, then on WABC at 7 PM and 7:30 PM respectively.

Also what is the deal with the Saturday re-runs of the two shows?
They all seem to be from the last season.
______________

Not that I know of. Jeopardy! airs on WXIA/11 Atlanta at
4:30, Wheel at 7:30 (following the station's 7 PM local news).

I've never heard of such a requirement. I live in the Central Time Zone. All stations that I know of that carry "Wheel of Fortune" air the show at 6:30 PM. However, "Jeopardy!" has various timeslots from station to station. KYTV (NBC) in Springfield, Mo. airs "Jeopardy!" at 12:30 PM; and KSDK-TV (NBC) in St. Louis and KODE-TV (ABC) in Joplin, Mo. run "Jeopardy!" at 3:30 PM (before Oprah on both stations).

I would assume that there is a rule that prevents "Wheel" and "Jeopardy!" from going head to head on two different stations in the same market (like Oprah and Dr. Phil). In Columbia/Jefferson City, Mo., KMIZ-TV (ABC) has "Jeopardy!" at 5:00 PM and KOMU-TV (NBC) has "Wheel" at 6:30 PM.

No rule preventing them from going head-to-head either.
In Birmingham, both Wheel and Jeopardy! are on at 6:30:
Wheel on ABC 33/40 (WCFT/WJSU), Jeopardy! on WIAT/42 (CBS).

Actually... In Milwaukee WDJT will be running them @ 6 and 6:30pm

That has always been the case, AFAIK.
______________

They are from last year, have been for a while I believe. In the few markets with a daily second run of Jeopardy, it's the full previous season.

Add in the fact that in Los Angeles and San Francisco, those weekend reruns get bumped during the NFL football season, because of ABC's Monday Night Football. KABC and KGO each air the shows on an one-day delay (Tuesday-Saturday instead of Monday-Friday).

Montel?

With the Insider at 7:30.

I'm in a near panic looking at the local TV schedules--I can't find Montel ANYWHERE on the local channels anymore. It's on WSET at 4PM now but is being replaced by Martha Stewart. I know it's not cancelled because it's still shown on WRIC's schedule. Does anyone know where Montel's going?

THe cancelation of Montel in Roanoke/Lynchburg is a real step forward. Now if they could just deep-six Dr. Phil, Maury's paternity test show, and a few others. Trip, you don't really watch those things do you?

I watch Psychic Sylvia Browne on Montel every Wednesday that she's on. I happen to believe her. The rest of it, eh, but Sylvia... that's what I watch.

Re: Montel?

Trip:

You can try www.zap2it.com, type-in your ZIP code (I presume you like in the Roanoke/Lynchburg area), and access local TV listings.

By clicking-on the call letters of a local broadcast channel, you can get listings for that channel for the next ten to twelve days. At this writing (August 31st), the listings with this feature only go through Sunday the 11th; but tomorrow, you should be able to access listings for the 12th on Zap 2 It.com.

You can do this for the local broadcast-TV stations, and find out if any local stations will broadcast "Montel" on and after September 12th, and if so, in what time period.

I hope this information will help.

I don't think there's such a rule because Jeopardy often double-runs (reruns and a new episode).

It seems a lot of station switching is going on with the two shows. In Green Bay, they've been on WFRV since they started; this fall they move to WLUK in the 6-7 time slot. (WFRV had shown J at 3:30, WOF at 6:30)

No change in Charlotte. Both will remain on WCNC, who has had the rights to both since the mid 90's. (1996 IIRC). It has had the rights to Jeopardy since the early 90's.

Well, thats how it is done on Channel 7 WABC TV in New York City. I believe it is like that in South Florida for some Miami station.

In Birmingham, they're on different stations (Wheel on ABC 33/40 and Jeopardy on CBS 42) at 6:30 Central and competing with each other. They may work new deals out like that, but it's not that way in every market.

Re: Wheel and Jeopardy moving to KJRH-2 in Tulsa on 9/12/05, too!

I don't know how long they were on KTUL-8 (ABC) in Tulsa, OK, but both programs move to KJRH-2 (NBC) on the 12th of Sept. KJRH did some "mystery" promotion (of the "guess who's moving to Ch 2" variety) early in the summer, as a well-known meterologist from KTUL moved to another station (KOTV-6, CBS) earlier in the year.
______________
