It's all about content and promotion and those attributes didn't exist on the stations you mentioned.
It's a shame Joe Elliott is exiled to The Sunday Morning Talk Show. He produces compelling talk radio instead of YOU DISAGREE WITH ME? THEN YOU HATE AMERICA! style of talk radio. If an FM talker were able to hire Joe Elliott (I know, non-compete) and build a local daytime line up around him, the Cuddly Giant's days would be numbered.

They weren't too bad of an adult Top 40 station. The thing I remember is that they played Paul McCartney's latest single ''Hope Of Deliverence''. No other station was playing it. I also remember that Gary Green did mornings and Dave Steel did afternoons. In 1996, WEHR went off the air for about 3 months and returned as WXLN ''The Bridge'' playing Christian music. (and also simulcasted on 105.7).
Then came Feb. 2000 when "I Am The Walrus'' was played for about 10 days and the relocated WLRS began.

I gave up on terrestrial radio a few years ago since it sucks wind in Louisville with everything being syndicated. 700 WLW is still a good station in Cincinnati but for how much longer who knows? It is almost all local and carries Reds games which can never be heard on a station with a decent signal in Louisville for some reason. That is another reason I bought an XM radio back in 2005. WHAS lost my support when in June 1997 the PD was on Joe Elliott's show saying "Joe Donovan will be here for quite some time" then on August 29, 1997 at 5:00AM he was gone after his Friday morning show.

There lineup is always changing. I bet stephanie miller or Ed schultz could do well here.

I thought I heard something weird the other night. Thought it was the North Koreans testing a new weapon.BobOnTheJob said:I rarely cackle out loud at anything posted on here, but I made an exception this time.radioville said:Funniest post of the year.Christopher5s said:Why would you think it would be 105.1 ? You mean someone in radio actually might have LIED?? Gasp! Surely not at a Clearchannel station. Corporate radio is here to help you. Terry Meiners said Lowry Mays promised, "they'd be no changes".storrs19 said:Liberal talk shows don't make money, that's a fact. Just look at Air America. If you want to hear left shows, pop for a satellite radio. Now myself I can't stand either left or right talk shows since they all spew the same garbage over and over.
