Sheesh, I had finally quit calling it "Nextstage," and now this. So is former Sucksquehanna manager Scott Strong out the door over there as the booking agent now?

Nokia owns Traffic.com, but do you think we ever got free or discount tickets? (Only if you knew Scott you did...but that had nothing to do with the company.)

I'm not exactly sure, but this was especially during the period when The Bone was tanking (2003-07ish.) Halyburton, Dan Bennett and Jeff K/Kovarsky were all still there at the same time.

I looked and looked (DMN, Startlegram, Observer, Topix, even AEG's website), and only found a very quick reference as part of a concert listing, thru a DMN search:

"...at Verizon Theatre (the name was changed from
Nokia Theatre in an announcement last week)..."

It was for a Jeff Beck concert late last month. Strange....usually with something like this, some media outlet or internetter would say *something*. But I guess it didn't matter much to AEG, etc. And I couldn't find the supposed 'announcement', either.

I noticed while at AEG's site, that the Nokia venues elsewhere that they have (Times Square, LA Live) still say Nokia, and nothing else says Verizon on AEG's venue list. So there must have been some local fly-in-the-ointment for the Grand Prairie theatre to swap out so quickly/quietly. ??? ???

We found out about the name change about a month ago.

And sometimes I still almost call the Smirnoff, uh, I mean the Superpages.com Center, the Starplex. :D
