Look at WCBS in NY and KRTH in LA! Both sound great and are enjoying soaring ratings!

Both kickin - - - and taking names and no one in the Bay is doing it??

Can't even count KFRC...That was a joke! Uninspired, dull and totally void of any pizzaz!

To top it off, KKSF goes BORING, PREDICTABLE, RETREAD...Wow, what a weird move??

Is it me or is Bay Area radio really not sounding too great these days??

Folks at Alice, Movin, KISQ.....If you're reading this, you're all ripe for a change, but you gotta do it right!

Listen to WCBS and KRTH and give the Bay Area the radio it deserves!

Someone is searching for the perfect Classic Hits/Oldies station.
What a waste of creative energy. Jukebox radio is dying. People and corportions are finding it harder and harder to make a living playing recorded music. There is justice after all.
It's absurd to think there is any merit to choosing and sequencing old music in any sort of format. Spine-less corporate programmers are seeking the safest music, limited in variety and locked in time capsules from previous generations. So sad. Anyone proposing Classic Hits or Oldies radio has no business criticizing the state of American commercial radio.
Radio cannot compete with my iPod and except for a few visionaries isn't offering me any substance between sets of 12-in-a-row and a block of commercials. At best I'm being "hosted" by someone working from his bedroom studio in Middle America and not even attempting to localize it.
I fully admit my bread was buttered by music radio, but I also have been attending Morons Anonymous meetings regularly since 1998. I got the message.

Disagree with Tripton99, Classic Hits/Oldies is booming with PPM. It's getting big ratings in just about all PPM markets, the most recent being San Diego. With all the signals in SF somebody should do it!

This has been discussed ad nauseum, but I agree that a well done Classic Hits station might do well in the SF market. WCBS-FM is now #2 in the New York market, though I'm sure Mr. Eduardo would tell us it's much lower in 25-54, and that's the number the counts. K-Earth is also doing well...so its' interesting that Clear Channel decided to take 103.7 in a different direction than "Classic Hits" and try to split up the KFOG-Bone audience instead.

Regarding what Tripton said, and the contention MP3 players will kill radio...I'm not so sure. MP3 players are wonderful, but...

I have an MP3 player, but I also have a busy life...so the damn thing has a shorter "play-list" than KRTH did 5 years ago. Frankly, I like music, but it's just not a big passion for me. So the MP3 has become just another irritating obligation that I have to think about. Maybe someday I'll get around to filling it up to its 4 gb capacity. Maybe I'll get around to re-finishing the dining room floor, too.

It's a lot easier calling the refinishing guy with the floor sander, though it's a lot more expensive. With music, it's a lot easier turning on the radio or Music Choice on cable...and its free.

The last I saw CBS-FM does in fact have strong 25-54 numbers. Several classic hits stations do. I agree it can't just be a throwaway like many said the last version of KFRC-FM was,

During the fiasco that was 106.9/KFRC, some here suggested that CBS get their own Jhani Kaye (KRTH) to program it.

Kenny - I said program KFRC, not jock. Jhani Kaye has been in radio since the mid 1970s, and has been a successful PD for a long time. No, he doesn't have as many years in radio as JMF and The Osh, but that's because he's younger.

As far as I know, those two guuys have never programmed a station, though obviously, I could be wrong, and I'm sure they're both more than capable of doing so.

Apparently, Jhani is also the overnight DJ on K-Earth...voice-tracked I'm sure.

OK, you got me there. I guess I meant "free" in the sense that I pay for the digital tier for television reception for my HDTV, and would pay for it whether or not it included Music Choice. So let's just say it's a "bonus."
