Oh well with 102.9 going to hip hop, that tells me that my hopes for a 24 hour locally hosted sports station are on hold for a while although i wonder with what has happened will tom benson still buy a station and if so which one hmmmmm stil some hope am i right?

Yes you can. I know that Clear Channel owns radio and TV in many markets. He has bought A tv station. One. He can also purchase up to 5 radio stations and own both.

Larry - You're wrong. Clear Channel had to divest their tv station group when they went private. They sold it a year ago. Only groups that were grandfathered or have received waivers can continue to own both (see Tribune in Chicago, which got a waiver to keep WGN-AM).

The FCC was debating opening up cross-ownership in the Top 10 markets. Currently, New Orleans is like 54th, so it's not going to happen here for awhile if at all.

By the way, for radio in New Orleans, you can own up to 6 stations, but not more than 4 on one band.

Think we are all confusing radio-TV crossownership, which is still OK (with some increased limitations in the past year or so), with newspaper crossownership of either radio or TV properties, which for some reason is still a scary monster in the regulatory closet.

Anything new to report on Louisiana Media and their attempts to secure a station in New Orleans I am hearing various reports and am loking for anything you guys might know or have heard
