Find someone who does radio for fun and has another job to pay the bills, like a local fish-wrap columnist.
Getting back to the excuse that spoken-word (and sports) doesn't always work on FM: Merlin had an inferior product, and ESPN 98.9 in San Diego had NO local hosts. And even though San Francisco's 95.7 has relatively low 6+ numbers (a 1.1 from what I saw last), they might be bringing in some listeners in its target demos.
