WHICH FM WILL FLIP TO SPORTS: KISS OR K104?

"I think people might be exaggerating this CHR situation"

I agree. Country is king in Charlotte.

I personally like Kiss 95.1, because I know they have live jocks. I hate listening to Ryan Seacrest on Channel 96-1.
I hate listening to him anywhere.

Ironically, I was reminded this past weekend of when I LIKED him. I turned on a movie and figured out that is was "Little Women". When that was on NBC, he was the host during the commercial breaks, and he actually made that movie easier to take. Though Kirsten Dunst was really good.

Not that it may make a difference, but 104.7 has an HD Radio signal, whereas 95.1 does not. They seem to have abandoned plans to add the digital version to 95.1 as well as 103.7.

It is my understanding that plans are still in the works for WSOC-FM and WNKS to add IBOC. Very expensive to add IBOC to stations with very high Transmitter Power outputs. Technology is becoming available to make it more efficient. No space on the towers means no room for antennas and transmission line for low level combining so high level combining will need to take place. ERI has a combiner/diplexer that will do the job. I think they are going in that direction. WSOC-FM may be on the air before the end of the year.

That being said I can't see one of the CBS or Clear Channel FMs making a flip to sports. Technically both WFNZ and WBCN are on FM on the HD-3s of WPEG, WBAV and WKQC. With more and more new cars coming equipped with HD Radios that is going to become more viable.

I think it should be 95.1 & 103.7 that have an HD signal instead of 97.9, 101.9 & 104.7.
95.1 and 103.7 are CBS's strongest signals in Charlotte and with no first adjacents (98.1 in Greenville or Fayetteville or Galax) (102.1 in Greensboro) (104.7 also in Columbia).

103.7 is non-directional from the same tower as 104.7, but 104.7 starts to have problems with the Columbia station right after Rock Hill...I have trouble sometimes with 97.9s HD here in Gaffney, on the same tower as 95.1 & 96.1...96.1's HD is near perfect even in most of Spartanburg.
101.9 I imagine has problems with its HD on the NE side of the market.

Bottom line, the 2 CBS stations in Charlotte without HD would've been a better choice for HD than the channels they are on...

95.1 is on the taller tower, but 103.7 has a very powerful transmitter. Hopefully these stations will eventually upgrade to HD Radio. Meanwhile, for some reason, the Channel 96.1 HD Radio signal has been down the past several days. Hopefully they will get it repaired soon.
