Which i kissed a girl do you like better jill sobule from 1995 or katy perry 08

I liked jill's much better. I liked the melody better but this one seems to be a bigger hit.

No doubt that Katy Perry has a much bigger hit. But I think I also like the Jill Sobule version better. Those lyrics in 1995 were more creative than Katy's in 2008.

Anyone got any predictions for Katy's career? My guess is that she will wind up similar to Meredith Brooks. A catchy, upbeat, slightly controverisal debut single. A more modest follow up hit (anyone remember Brooks' "What Would Happen"?) and then never to be heard from again.

My vote is for the Katy Perry version, much better! I'm not in the demographic for this song so who cares?

Katy Perry has about as much staying power as Amy Winehouse. I think the Meredith Brooks comparison will be fairly accurate in this case. PDs: if you choose to spin this song then you better spin it hard 'cause it's already an afterthought to a lot of people.

At first when i heard the title i thought it was a remake but then i heard it and it is an original. I still here jill sobule on triple a stations.

Yeah, but she (Jill) sounds like Betty Boop. I'll vote for Katy's song.

Yeah, you're probably right on that.

Jill's. I absolutely don't care for this version at all. Another crap song that reminds me of my crappy local CHR station - WXSS 103.7 Kiss FM.

Katy Perry --- Hands Down.

Better melody, Better Hook. Combined they make a hit and this was a huge record.

Katy will not be a Merideth Brooks (i.e. One hit wonder with "Bitch") Hot and Cold is already performing in the format, both Hot AC and CHR, again it's all in the hook.

I smell a one (or two) hit wonder. Jill's was more contraversial during the "Dont ask, dont tell" era. Plus I do not like the message conveyed in Perry's song: to kiss someone of the same sex is not considered cheating. I got over the whole lesbian fantasy when I was 20.

Therefore, my vote is neither; they both lose in my book.

You know you're a one hit wonder when one song on your album sounds completly different from the others.

She should have led with that single. It's got more staying power than "Kissed". I guess she was just going for shock value right out of the gate.

I like K.P's song better- this isn't a remake of Jill Sobul. Anyone remember "Too Cool to Fall In Love" by J.S?
Funny how things work-if a male singer made a song called " I kissed a guy" it probably would not air unless it were a parody.
