Which song took the longest to reach #1 on Billboard's Hot 100?

I tried looking this up on the internet, but couldn't find any information at all. From the best of my very outdated knowledge, the answer to this is "Chariots of Fire"-Vangelis, for a first run single of 22 weeks back in 1982.

The longest in total that I can think of is the issue "Red Red Wine"-UB40, which I think took 25 weeks in total between their 2 chart runs back in 1988.

There must have been something much more recent than that though. Does anyone know if there has been? Thank you for your help!

I don't think you can really count the total number of weeks in both chart runs in figuring how long it took to reach #1; otherwise, you could count the entire five years between both chartings of "Red Red Wine," and say that it took it five years for it to reach #1. Technically true, I suppose, but also a bit misleading.

back in 89 corina-temptation first broke on Power 96 miami,,, but didnt reach top 10 till 1991... Also.... not nearly as long, but Snaps-rhythm is a dancer, as well as blues traveler-run Around charted for about 2 years in the hot 100.
