Which TV News Anchor Has Been With The Same Station The Longest?

Maybe it's just major markets, but there's been a trend the last couple of decades, or more to make news brands generic. In the Bay Area:

And in Philly we got Eyewitness News back after some time with a more generic News 3 (or something bland like that)--not to mention Newsday/Newsbeat/The News Tonight.

Stu Nahan he was a rookie in Sacramento when he worked at KCRA 3 and a stop in Philadelphia. But Nahan had long tenure's and earned legendary status once he went to Los Angeles and joined KTLA News with Hal Fishman and Larry McCormick.

Bill Kurtis and Walter Jacobson they had legendary status when they did the WBBM CBS2 News in Chicago. I remember in a few Youtube Clips I seen once Bill Kurtis left WBBM TV and went nationwide, Current NBC Nightly News Host Lester Holt took on the anchor seat at WBBM 2 News.

I remembered Nahan from KABC-TV, and I left LA in 73. So I looked him up:

KABC-TV (1968–1977)
KNBC (1977–1986)
KTLA (1988–1999).

So really, he was in the LA market for 20 years before joining KTLA.

here is one link saying that Stu Nahan had a stint in Sacramento and that's when KCRA was a startup TV station at the time.

Wow I'm amazed Sacramento TV market has produced so many people that went on to have longest TV tenures somewhere else. Gary Radnich, Pete Wilson these two didn't even last in the Sacramento Valley when they were on KTXL 40 Sacramento but later went on to San Francisco they have been mentioned for being the highest paid talent in the San Francisco Area in the 1990's.

Kim Khazei she was on KOVR 13 when it was an ABC Affiliate in Sacramento and didn't really last that long here. But Once WHDH got her then she became a TV legend in the Boston Area for 20 years approximately.

David Ono and Ellen Leyva these two were on competing stations in the Sacramento area around the 1990's but ended as Co-hosts of ABC 7 Eyewitness News in Los Angeles replacing Harold Greene and Laura Diaz and they have been on KABC for 20 years.

Kaity Tong she had a short stint at KCRA 3 before New York TV stations WABC and WPIX got her and became New York TV legend.

Susan Hirasuna and Tony McEwing they were on competing stations in Sacramento in the 1980's but they were forgotten TV talent in Sacramento. However once these two went to Los Angeles specifically Fox 11 they became the longest tenured anchors for the Fox Owned stations and they were there ever since the early years of Fox approximately since 1990.

And don't forget Lester Holt of NBC News he was an intern at KCRA3 and Sacramento State University student in the 1980's and
He went on to replace Bill Kurtis in Chicago on WBBM News for a few years before NBC got him nearly 20 years ago to host shows for MSNBC and do fill ins for NBC Nightly News and Today before he became the main NBC nightly news host.

Has there ever been DMA's similar to Sacramento where they somehow managed to have TV talent that went on to become legends somewhere else?

I thought Pete Wilson had done fine at KTXL, but left for the (obviously) greater opportunity at KGO-TV when he replaced Van Amburg.

That dynamic isn't unusual though. You mentioned Harold Greene - he was a big floperoo at KPIX San Francisco, when he anchored with Dave McElhatton, but went on to success in the much larger LA market

South Florida (MIA-FTL)

WINNER:
Bob Mayer at WTVJ for 41 years.

Other notables:
Dwight Lauderdale at WPLG for 32 years.
Ralph Renick at WTVJ for 31 years.
Craig Stevens at WSVN for 26 years (even though he took a 2-year stint at WHDH so its actually 24).
Ann Bishop at WPLG for 25 years.
Illeana Varela at WFOR for 20 years.
Elliot Rodriguez at WFOR for 18 years.

That's just English TV here.

Belva Davis of KQED San Francisco she was host of KQED Newsroom the 1960's-1970's edition then went on to host documentaries on KQED and KRON.

I heard stuff that PBS Newshour and Washington Week on PBS were supposedly modeled after KQED Newsroom and other Former NET affiliates that aired their local edition of Newsroom.

Belva Davis also reported and anchored - for KRON, I'm sure, but possibly for KPIX as well. IIRC, she started her career in news at KDIA, "The Lucky 13" (1310 AM) - the Bay Area's soul music radio station in the 60s and 70s.

Well here's another forgotten KPIX talent Colleen Williams , she was in San Francisco in the early 1980's but was forgotten to Bay Area viewers because of her legendary status in Los Angeles for Anchoring the KNBC News in Los Angeles and west coast correspondent for NBC News for more than three decades.

I forgot another person at KTTV fox 11 who is also approaching the 30 year mark for being part of the News staff.

Christine Devine has been at Fox 11 since the 1990's along with Susan Hirasuna and Tony McEwing. These three people has to be one of Fox 11's longest running News staff members.

These three people has to be the longest tenured staff members among the Fox O&O's though.

Steve Edwards at GDLA has to be another one too.

Diana Lewis of WABC-TV she's been at that station for 25 years. She's been at WABC longer than Roger Grimsby though.

You mean Diana Williams? Because Diana Lewis was at WXYZ.

In Detroit there ABC7 Action News and that name has been around since Bill Bonds was there.

As is Pittsburgh's WTAE. They have been using Action News since the 70's though for a brief period of time in the late 80's and early 90's their newscast was called "WTAE 4 News".

In Detroit there *ABC*7 Action News and that name has been around since Bill Bonds was there.

* (Channel) 7 Action News to clarify. WXYZ never used ABC in its news branding, the same way WPVI and WABC officially don't use ABC for their news brandings.
