Whitney Houston on Adult Contemporary radio

Has anyone heard a Whitney Houston song on AC radio the last few days? I know that Whitney has received heavy airplay on Adult Contemporary radio over the years, and I was wondering if anyone has heard a Whitney Houston song lately.

Magic 989 WSPA here in Greenville, SC has been playing one an hour, I've heard all of her hits from the 80s and the early 90s 'Bodyguard' hits, as well as her rendition of "The Star Spangled Banner."

KOST and KTWV have been playing her music more since her death. KTWV is playing her upbeat songs that have never been heard on the station like So Emotional I love that song

I wonder if Whitney's music will see a comeback on AC, especially her more upbeat hits. Michael Jackson certainly is heard more on AC since his death. Will be interesting to see if Whitney is the same case.

Heard "Didn't We Almost Have It All" over Mix 92.9 on Sunday afternoon while I was in the car. Checked their playlist later after I got home, but it didn't appear that they were playing Whitney any heavier than usual, other than that one. Interesting that we almost never hear that one any more, but it got HEAVY HEAVY rotation while it was a hit. I even remember hearing a Whitney Houston parody back at that time "Don't My Songs All the Sound the Same" sung by a Whitney soundalike! ;D

Haven't really heard MJ any heavier than usual since his death. After the news of his death subsided, AC went back to playing the same four or five MJ tracks that they have always played. But I noticed that Mix edited out Eddie Van Halen's solo from "Beat It." ???

I stream WFEZ/Miami online pretty much every day. Granted, it's Soft AC - not AC, but it's a very good station because it plays a lot of soft hits that no other radio station plays anymore.

As part of its regular playlist, they often play "You Give Good Love" by Whitney. I think I've also heard "Didn't We Almost Have It All" in its regular rotation.

Just a few minutes ago, I heard Whitney's version of "I Will Always Love You". I think this may be the first time I've heard that on WFEZ. (Of course this doesn't mean they haven't played it before; I just haven't heard it on there until now.)

I'm sure WFEZ is playing a few other classics by Whitney, but I can't think of which ones at the moment.

I love Whitney and am devastated by her death. R.I.P. Whitney.

I would be willing to bet that "I Will Always Love You" is Whitney's most played AC song, before or after her death. It's pretty much a staple, even though it is rather slow and is a ballad. Was a huge hit and the song she was best known for. She had some pretty good uptempo songs from the 80s, like "I Wanna Dance" and "How Will I Know", which aren't heard very much anymore (well, weren't until after her death). I liked her remake of "I'm Every Woman", even. Those seem like great Whitney songs for the AC format. Since she had quite a few slower ballads as hits, but since the AC format doesn't like that kind of stuff (for the most part), the stations are a bit limited as to what they can play by her after they are done paying tribute to her.
I haven't heard a lot of the songs by Whitney mentioned on here played in ages, until she died. "I Have Nothing", "Saving All My Love For You", and "Greatest Love Of All" are other ones that are rarely, if ever heard. I would suppose that they don't really fit the format anymore.

Maybe it was just around here that there seemed to be a MJ resurgance, but I rarely heard any of his music on either of our ACs, but after he died, they started playing 6-7 of his songs shortly after his death. The remaining AC still plays a lot of his music.

I agree that her death is sad. So young and talented. RIP.

I still even hear a bunch of chr's consistently playing MJ's hits, especially more so in mix shows. There are even special dj edits available for some of his hits.

The AC station here can't seem to stop playing "Man In the Mirror". They also have "The Way You Make Me Feel" and "Billie Jean" in rotation.

I do notice Clear Channel's Premium Choice format has put "All The Man That I Need" back in rotation. That song was a #1 hit on the Hot 100, R&B and AC charts in early 1991, but is also from the time soon after Mariah Carey first came on the scene to threaten her diva crown, which may be why it isn't heard much anymore. I wasn't expecting that one to make a comeback and I was pleasantly surprised to hear it.

Also I'm seeing some out-of-the-usual Whitney songs like "Didn't We Almost Have It All" show up in the music logs for the just-relaunched-as-soft-AC Love 105 in Minneapolis/St. Paul.

So some of the Whitney songs that appeared to be lost to time are making comebacks, however minor. Just as with MJ, though, it will only go so far. Jackson's death didn't make "I Just Can't Stop Loving You" or "Dirty Diana" playable again. By that same token I wouldn't expect "Exhale (Shoop Shoop)" or "Love Will Save The Day" to return en masse to AC playlists.
