Most who post here (myself included) always seems to focus on air talent and p.ds. Who are the best and worst salespeople in the state of Louisiana? Anyone have any great stories or dirt? And let's not forget those salesmanagers too. What sales depts. have an unusually high turnover rate? Maybe if people are into this topic we could start a thread on promotions and one devoted solely to radio upper management. 8)

i always flip the commercials..on the occasion that i actually listen to am/fm radio..the sales staff is the part of radio i dont care about. they are responsible for the 20 minutes of commercials per hour ;D

I hear you. I don't care about them either. ;)

I won't post on this topic after this, but I'll say that I think the worst salespeople end up at Clear Channel sales. They seem to get all the bottomfeeders and the ones that can't work at any of the other radio companies. :pAs for who I think are the best, well that's like saying who's better, Hitler or Stalin?

It's easy for program types to vent hatred for sales...but they are responsible forpaying the light bill, the rent and your salary. They hit the hot streets and deal with rejection every day. The bought that new console you enjoy, and make it possible for the engineer to buy parts to fix the commode and water fountain, not to mention the transmitter that beams out your golden voice. They are not the enemy, but the best friend you have in the business. Some apparently never learn this. And, NO, I am not a salesperson, but management. I am sure we are on your list, too.Something to think about from the backwoods of the Magnolia State. Thanks

Programming creates ratings. It's the job of sales to sell the ratings created by programming. No, good ratings buys new equipment and pays the light bills and salaries. What sales doesn't seem to get is that it's harder to find good air talent than salespeople, who are a dime a dozen.

without sales there is no transmitter, no electricity...now where are the ratings,...sure on air people and regular "sales" types are cheap...I thought you you were looking for the worst and the BEST...why pose a question as this when your mind is already made up? This is a time waster.

You can have a 20 share and if it can't be sold, you don't have a radio station. A great sales person is the one that can sell a .7!

Why don't the real truth emerge... That all have to be a team to make it work....You need great on air talent/programming to keep the listener there to have them hear your adsYou need great sales people who know the product to generate the revenue needed to keep everything onYou need great technical people unless you love broadcasting to nothingEach have their great players and scum... The sales people however are usually not as visable to everyone as the on air talent and maybe why this post went nowheresRFLA
