WHO, FROM PAST TV SHOWS [THAT ARE STILL ALIVE] WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE TODAY?

Andy Griffith is now 83 and in good health but semi-retired, although he has appeared in short cameos in things like Brad Paisley's video for his hit song "Waitin' On A Woman" (about a guy waiting for his wife to wrap up what seems like an endless shopping trip to the mall, your basic affectionate slice-of-life song), and a campaign video in behalf of President Barack Obama's 2008 run which co-starred Henry Winkler and Ron Howard.

He's got the luxury of being able to keep his hand in by doing things he wants to do with people he enjoys working with, but not needing to work steadily.

He's earned it...

I'd say the last two paragraphs of your post would apply
to Dick Van Dyke as well.

...just noticed via IMDb that Mary Elizabeth McDonough (The Waltons) is still working, making recurring (regular?) appearances on The New Adventures of Old Christine...also saw there where Lisa Loring (The Addams Family) says "I will not do any schlock. But I'd love to do a Quentin Tarantino film." Well, Q.T., whatcha waitin' for? ;-) ...

I had a crush on Sherry Jackson (Danny Thomas Show), whatever happened to her? Or Erin Gray (Buck Rogers, Silver Spoons)??
Pamela Hensley (Marcus Welby, Buck Rogers, Matt Houston)?? Did Lisa Loring ever pose in Playboy? I always liked Mary Elizabeth
McDonough, also liked several of the girls on Eight is Enough, you don't see any of them anymore either!!

...one pic, see thru clothing from the back, in a pictorial featuring soap actresses (IIRC she was on As the World Turns at the time)...

the cast of LA Law,

The cast of WKRP in Cincinnatti,

Alan Alda

Well, from L.A. Law, that's one request John Spencer can't answer.
Same for Gordon Jump & Carol Bruce from WKRP, they've been "canceled"

Other than Gordon Jump, who worked up until shortly before his death (he was the last "Maytag repairman"), most of the WKRP actors have moved on to obscurity. Same with most of the LA Law cast. Ironically, the most consistently employed from LA Law is Dann Florek, who played a comical minor recurring character - and has found regular employment as Captain Cragen in Law and Order: SVU. Corbin Bernsen (Arnie Becker) has a minor recurring role in USA Network's Psych.

Alan Alda continues to appear frequently in guest-star roles. I'm sure the secure income from from the the constant reruns of M*A*S*H* have given him the freedom to be picky in choosing the occasional roles he wants to play. I wasn't a West Wing fan, but I remember that Alda played against type as a right-wing politician in that show.

As far as WKRP castmembers, I haven't seen Howard Hesseman since he left "Head Of The Class", which was maybe 20 years ago. Tim Reid had "Frank's Place", of course, and more recently "Sister, Sister". But Gary Sandy? The ONLY thing I've seen him in was one of those cheesy "Real Stories Of The FBI" shows, where he played Anthony Kiritsis, a guy who took a real estate developer hostage in downtown Indianapolis back in the 70's.

Corbin Bernsen has been in & out of the Akron, Ohio area several times over the last few months trying to arrange financing to do a film on the Soap Box Derby. It is in financial trouble and may fold or move to another city. He's hoping to do a "family friendly" film that will raise awareness of the Derby and get more people interested in participating in it. [He's attempting to raise financing from all over the USA, not just the Akron area.]
