Who has better News Ratings WPIX 11 Or FOX 5 NY. ?

I feel like if PIX11 aired sitcoms during the afternoon AND at night, they'd have better ratings. And, off topic, but KTLA should DEFINITELY cut back on their news programs. 4AM - 7:30PM?! Are you kidding me?! I know things are looking crazy in the world as of late, but you don't need THAT much news. Am I right?

Yes way too much News

LA is a much different market than NYC. Car chases still garner big ratings and stations continue to blow out their newscasts when one happens. Earthquakes, fire/flood coverage also gets ratings as well. KTLA, KABC and to a lesser extent KCAL do it the best in LA. There is enough news going on in the DMA to garner the extensive news block that KTLA currently has.....4am-2pm, 3-7pm, 10-11:30pm on weekdays.

L.A. is needed for those crazy news schedules amongst all of their stations. NYC could've been the same but they don't the same way L.A. does.

Fox 5 always have good quality in their news since their days as a Dumont station.
To the best of my knowledge, channel 5 did not begin actual newscasts until the mid-60s. (I think it was 1965.) Previously it would have been short rip & read 'casts VO'ed by a booth announcer over a static slide, just to meet their FCC obligations.

There's a channel changer on the TV and remote, I believe. You don't have to watch.

I always thought WPIX was #1, especially during the INN era in the '80s (and were less brashly compared to WNEW/WNYW); heck, Seinfeld reruns at 11:00 beat out WCBS' news at one point (which led to the 1996 massacre)!

Of course, both stations had Marvin Scott, the late Bill Jorgensen, and the late Arnold Diaz.
