Who has the best selection of Holiday music?

I know there's a lot of anti-holiday music people on here, but keep in mind that some people actually do like it, especially this time of the holiday season where it's actually close enough to Christmas. In my area, I can get 4 stations playing all Holiday music, but the selection varies from station to station, as it does with any format. But here's what I have found:

WODS: Very repetitive selection. They seem to play the same song multiple times a day, and seem to only stick to songs that are very well-known. They also don't really play a lot of modern Christmas songs, except for ones that are very well known, such as Mariah.

WROR: Very similar to WODS.

WSRS: Uses Clear Channel's Premium Choice for Christmas music, so they don't have much control. They do have a nice variety of holiday music though, mixing classics and modern.

WWLI: Best holiday music selection yet this season. Plays lots of modern and I've heard some holiday hits this season that I haven't heard in YEARS. I recently heard "Wreck the Malls" by the Bob Rivers Comedy Corp not too long ago, and it was right after the original "Christmas Song" by Nat King Cole, and before "Let it Snow!" by Jimmy Durante, so that was a REALLY weird transition. I'm guessing the programmer wasn't really thinking about that.

WSRS is nice.
I am able to hear Cool 102 and they are nice.
WODS Is OK, but seems to have a very heavy ad load on occasion.

HAVE LISTENED QUITE A BIT TO WROR AND WODS AS USUAL DURING THE CHRISTMAS SEASON AND MAYBE I HAVE JUST NOT HIT IT RIGHT, I HAVE NOT HEARD JINGLE BELL ROCK BY BOBBY HELMS THOUGH HAVE HEARD OTHER VERSIONS, ROCK'IN AROUND THE CT BRENDA LEE AND HAVE DEFINITELY NOT HEARD RUN RUN RUDOLPH
THOUGH I MAY HAVE HEARD DOMINIC THE DONKEY AT LEAST +++++++1000 TIMES

I don't mind the Christmas/holiday music, it's just they start it so early. Then again as a capitalist I know
it makes them $$$$ (though it's up to people whether or not to indulge them in their efforts). If anything the past few weeks I've thrown on quite a few Christmas/holiday songs (incl I'm Spending Hannukah in
Santa Monica by Tom Lehrer) on WMWM, many songs people aren't familiar with.

One of my co-workers at the post office said she prefers WROR--older, more standard stuff than what
WODS runs.
A parody of Dominic the Donkey got some plays on WEEI I hear (making fun of Fred Smerlas?)

I will actually be one of several people on Christmas morning on WMWM, live and local, for the third
year in a row.

I got to listen to one of the Premium Choice affiliates a lot this year - I agree with the variety of holiday music, but the playlist did not run too deep. I swear I heard Air Supply's "Sleigh Ride" every three or four hours; a song I had never even heard before this year.

I wonder if Country 92.5 down in Hartford is running Premium Choice for their Christmas Music. I was listening for a while and twice before they went to a traffic report and commercial break there was a generic female voice-over "we'll be back with the music shortly" - something I've never heard before.

Here in Hartford DRC-FM is doing a better job than Lite 100.5 . I can also pick up Springfield's WMAS 94.7, but I haven't checked their selection. KIX 97.9/100.9 also in Springfield is mixing in some Christmas tunes (both traditional versions and country versions) with their regular Country line-up, but will be going all-Christmas for 36 hours starting at Noon on Saturday.

Best song I've heard? "All I Want for Christmas is you" by Vince Vance and The Valliants. It's been getting airplay on both KIX 97.9/100.9 and DRC-FM. Vince Vance and The Valliants are the ones playing the instruments and there is a female vocalist.

Hands down, the best Christmas Music is on WORC-FM 98.9 in Worcester. Although they play the usual favorites that you can here everywhere else, they have included many songs that you rarely, if ever hear on commercial radio. It's a "Classic Christmas" on ORC-FM! :D

As for the other stations, I find WODS and WSRS very repetitive.

And I can't even listen to WROR anymore thanks to the pirate at 105.5 from downtown Worcester.

Of course most stations repeat songs! That's what they call the "Power" catagory. The most popular songs are the ones listeners want to hear most and so stations play them the most. If you're fav xmas song is "santa baby" for example, why would you only want to hear it once a day?

The best variety of Christmas music has to be on the internet. And I give you these top 5:
1. The Christmas Radio Network! A wonderful collection of Christmas music with holiday trivia and the reminders that "Jesus Is The Reason For The Season!" http://www.ChristmasRadioNetwork.com
2. Sounds Of Christmas! Ken Kessler is tired of the same old "Christmas crap," and that's why he's got his own season radio station with the widest variety of Christmas music, as well as special public service announcements. http://www.SoundsOfChristmas.com
3. Christmas Vinyl! This is the place where you will hear classic holiday music from the 1940s through to the 1970s! Check it out today. http://www.ChristmasVinyl.com
4. Christmas FM! This radio station is only on until December 26th., but it plays the very best Christmas music. And instead of commercial announcements, they present Christmas poems and holiday tidbits. http://www.ChristmasFM.ie
5. ChristmasRadio.com! This is a wonderful place to hear Christmas music during the holiday season and all year 'round! I hope you'll like that, too. http://www.ChristmasRadio.com
So when those Christmas radio stations go back to regular programming on Monday, you can get your post-Christmas music fix by clicking these links. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! (And Happy Chunakah to all our Jewish friends!)

The best selection of holiday music will be and always is Oedipus's Christmas Show that this year will air again live on Christmas Eve from 6pm to 12mid on WFNX 101.7 and wfnx.com.

Interesting you mention WMJX. Yes, they're only doing it for 2 days, but you should hear their music selection. It's very very relaxing, and almost all very soft instrumental. You never hear this kind of music at all, and it's like you'll forget you've been listening to the radio. I think this is an age-old tradition. Did this used to be typical for soft ACs?

Best Christmas tunes?

Why on today's, The Eclectic Picnic, on WATD at 2PM. (959watd.com, 95.9FM)

Tune-in & see

I did enjoy the way Magic played very light instrumental Christmas music throughout the afternoon. It was the perfect background music for the holiday gathering we had.

Absolutely, Oedipus's now legendary X-Mas Eve show is a treat to listen to with the family the night before Christmas. I heard everything from old show tunes to country to R&B to indie rock. Great selections from Oedi as usual

I always find WODS and WROR to have a good variety and I like their presentation. I guess Magic 106.7 can't sound exactly like WROR, so they go lighter than WROR.
