Without a high gain roof antenna there's little to no hope. Maybe you could try their stream.

hey guys,
I am wondering how the hell I am getting WBCN 104.1 in clear mono (maybe stereo) in Saint Johnsbury VT 1 mile south of coles corner. I also get jamn 94.5 a bit staticky and 1035 from albany faintly. my setup is the terk fm 50 pro.
any Ideas how i might be getting these stations?

we should start probably start a different thread your right I'll let a moderator do it if they want to what they would want to say as a topic...
I can't stand 24kbs to 64kbs at best radio streams. getting WBCN in clear Mono sounds a bit better.
WJMN a bit staticky but sounds in stereo so better then the stream however wqbj 103.5 is a different story... its faint
Gotta love the hills around here. I will try to make a full list in my spare time

a little TMI but,
as for LSC alumni weekend, Its been feasible for me to take the train down fridays and back to VT mondays for a *post fare prices* no more that 80 to stamford and 60$ to new Haven so I will not be around sorry guys I know a lot of you want to meet me. I have been not doing much more than on air with my show midweek for "Im only the traffic director" and no more than that. ( I have been under a lot of pressure recently and i'll just leave it at that) I have a tuesday through thursday schedule... I'll be in CT working at a beach (more homework than work gets done) for a few more weeks and then just deli work. I wish they best of luck to some of you at alumni weekend to hopefully drop by the WWLR studio's and see all the New DJ/Returning Dj's do their thing.

Jamie, I think this should be on a seperate thread. This one is talking about powerful signals in New England like WHOM, WEZF, WPKQ, WBLM, WAAF, etc etc.. If you want to get WBCN in St. Jay, I say go for the stream. It's no fun as trying to hear the signal over the air, yet it is clear !! I'm not sure what your elevation is in St. Jay, though the higher you are the better ! Danville is a great place to live, and the elevation will work wonders for your tuner. BCN' at one time was fairly easy to tune-in from East Burke before there was any local FM's up there and docket 80-90 stations on the air. If I see you next weekend at LSC, I'll play you the tape. I had an FM yagi type antenna hooked into a Marantz receiver with a pre-digital dial. Even got WHJY Providence up there before WFTN-FM signed on :D Yowwwzah !!

Best Signals In New England

All the comments were great! There are many signals that come to mind as strong in New England
103.7 WEEI in RI has an extremely powerful signal, I remember visiting my grandmother at Hartford Hospital and it coming in quite well, just some static here and there from the large buildings, it goes far to the north as well. It has a weak signal near Truro on the Cape so it's all over the place.

101.9 WCIB on the Cape used to have one of the strongest signals in New England until they changed several years back. I still receive them with moderate static in Eastern Connecticut near Waterford so there signal is still amazing

96.1 WSRS Worcester MA, don't think anyone mentioned this. I receive this with light static in the Montville/Waterford CT area and as far north as the Seacoast border going into Hampton NH, it has an impressive range, look at Radio Locator Map

104.5 WXLO similar to WSRS, however I do not receive it at my location due to a local translator, however it was receivable before the translator.

94.9 WHOM as everyone else has mentioned. The problem is that the 580 AM translator in Worcester breaks up the reception range. I can get it extremely weak in East central Connecticut around Griswold but it goes head to head with 94.9 on Long Island and Worcester. Usually about 10 miles North of Worcester, WHOM is received well. Even sitting in the back seat with a C Crane 2E, I was picking up HOM south of Lowell nearly full quieting.

102.9 WBLM dies around Haverhill for me and same with WFNK. However, along with WPOR, I can receive them depending on conditions at Pachaug Pond in Griswold.

100.3 WHEB is received all over the place for me and has been received as far south as Northeastern CT around Plainfield and north into Freeport but quickly fades past that

105.1 WTOS

101.1 WGIR Manchester has a great signal and is received by me extremely weak in Griswold CT. Once you hit Worcester, you can receive a quality signal however it doesn't go that deep into Maine. It's a better listen along 495 from Worcester to Kittery.

93.7 WEEI and 105.7 WROR are the best Boston signals in my opinion. Can receive WEEI East of Mohegan Sun and sometimes as north as Midcoast of Maine, WROR is similar. WEEI had an okay signal in Truro/Welfleet area as well but certainly not as strong as WEII 96.3

There's probably more but those are the one's off the top of my head.
