Who in the Raleigh/Durham market has the best weather coverage?

For those who reside in the Raleigh/Durham television market, you might have
noticed in the last few weeks that WRAL and WTVD are competing for the best
"weather" coverage with their new technology such as "Doppler HD" and
"Doppler XP", while covering weather is important, who do you think does
the best job when it comes to this?

If there were a way to put a left-wing spin on the weather, WRAL would find it.

I really hope you're kidding

I'm about as republican as they come and I don't even see that from WRAL. IMO they are what local news should be!

;D Geez..If they really want to be #1, they should launch their own weather satelite.. Call me, I have connections at Cape Canaveral....

How the weather was done in my lifetime:

Growing up in Philadelphia....."Jim O'Brian says it's going to rain" or... What were the (Bill) Kuster Kids wearing?
College years near Pittsburgh..."Joe DiNardo says..." or... "What does (Bob) Kudzma weather say"?
Now, the Chapel Hill years... What does "The Fish" say? "It may or may not snow, rain etc.. How about those Mets?"

Just look out the window!, or check Grandma's corns! ;D

"Today it was really raining, it was pouring!, you might say it was raining cats and dogs. How do I know? I stepped in a poodle! ::)

I have always wondered why TV spends so much time on the weather! I know it ranks in the top two or three items people want, but why spend half the newscast on the weather? And why tease it so damn much! Just tell me what it is going to be and be done with it!

severe weather coverage is the best...especially when they issue severe thunderstorm warnings for chatham county and orange county...lol

I believe they have viewers in those counties. Are they any less important? Frankly, severe weather is when they should spend time on it. When it is sunny and 85, say sunny and 85 and be done with it!

OK Mike, why do ya'll use Channel 8 weatherpeople? Back in the old daze.."Cloudy McClain" in Charlotte used to just say 50%...Hell you never knew what he meant..

WRAL is the best by far.

You'll never know who'll be doing the weather next on WTVD-11 the way they go through anchors, sportscasters and meteorologists.

Meanwhile, at WNCN-17......never mind. They could honestly go to syndicated programming and drop the news and nobody would notice. :D

Big Ape, not sure what you are talking about. I don't use Channel 8 people where I work today (not in radio)! I think we did use Eric Chilton for a brief period at B-100 FM years ago but we never let him go on and on!

Sorry bout that Mike, thinking of somebody else..Was Tommy Walker still at B-100 when you were there?

I know he was there with Bernie Mann when it was WGLD

Tommy was in Raleigh at WKIX - a little before my time. Charlie Brown (Ed Weiss) was GM at B-100 in Greensboro - from late 1980s through 1995. Maybe it was Charlie you are thinking about. Tommy, I believe was in Jacksonville by then.

I went to KIX in 1980-1989 - mostly working for Bernie - then Metroplex. Came to WS in 1989. Worked at B-100 from 92-94.

Charlie lives in Hillsborough today - does a show on WPCM in Burlington and a Syndicated beach show.

Ah Yes!  Ed it was!  Walker, Spooner and Me were at TOB 73-74 when Southern Broadcasting Sold out...and GAWD John Woods bought it..The demise of WTOB and WSSB Durham in which he also owned..followed shortly.. At one time when Woods sold Walker, Spooner, Charles Westbrook, Bill McQuage and a bunch others "Stock in Woods Communications", I was pissed that my dog ate my stock certificates , Come to find out, that's all they were good for.. Forgot about GM Mike Ludgate..he was wise and went to WCHV before it all "Hit the fan"..
