who is the top of the hr voice on wcbsfm?

A strange voice and not Ziggy, but I still hear Ziggy :) who is the other voice? Anyone know? I know they added Al Bernstein to weekends. I met Al once and he is a nice guy, wishing him the Best. :)

I believe it's Earl Mann, the same guy who voices a number of other CBS Classic Hits stations including Chicago's K-Hits, Orlando's Sunny FM, KLUV Dallas, and Tampa Bay's Q105. Ironically, Mann became the voice of Q105 after Brian Thomas took over, and now he's becoming the voice of CBS-FM a month and a half after Brian Thomas *left*.

Hearing someone other than Ziggie as the main station voice will take some getting used to, but if they had to make a change, Mann wasn't a bad choice. I just hope they don't mess too much with the jingles.

Isn't Earl also the voice of Fox Sports? Seem to recall that he also narrated Mike Judge's film "Idiocracy."

And here I was getting all ready to tell everyone what a great voice Frank Sinatra had. It's a very nice station. I do listen from time to time. :-X

Strange, I'm hearing that new voice-over guy only at the top of the hour. Not in other imaging of the station. Is there more to come? Food for speculation. Maybe they going more in the 80's direction like sister station K-Hits in Chicago.

I was hearing some general station IDs voiced by Mann on Tuesday and Wednesday, but since then it seems like they've gone back to the old ones voiced by Ziggie. I still heard Mann introducing the "here's what's going on" promo today, and the promo for their "Saturday in the park" concert has both announcers on it.

Anyone who has the new CBS-FM Top of the Hour jingle made by Earl Mann, I hope it will ended up on www.tophour.com will keep you posted if you love the new CBS-FM's TOH with the new voice Earl Mann who replaced Ziggy. Ziggy has been the VoiceOver for many years on many radio stations including WBPM's former "Cool 92.9" in Saugerties, WKLI's former "Magic 100.9" in Albany, WROW's "Magic 590" in Albany, WKIP-FM's former "News/Talk 99.3" in Ellenville and many other stations that includes Ziggy's voice. I hope he is still on other stations elsewhere outside of CBS-FM.

Thanks for that clip! I hope this TOH audio can someday be on TopHour site. Earl Mann is not all that bad, it's okay where he was saying "Only CBS-FM". He sounded a lot similar to Ernie Anderson, the guy who did the ABC promos back in the 70's and 80's as well as the Sega Master System commercials. Earl Mann is the next Ernie Anderson. Remember the ABC promos in the 70's where he says "The Lo-o-ove Boat!" That brings back memories when I remember seeing the promos that Ernie Anderson did on ABC.

In my opinion, Ziggy sounds so much better than Earl Mann. To me, Ziggy is CBS-FM and yes, I feel it does make a difference, but I am a long time listener. I was so glad they brought him back on 7/12/07.

In the pre-Jack days, there was someone else who voiced the top of the hour. I can't remember who it was - I think he died. Anyone remember?

How is K Hits doing in the money demos? 6+ and cume they are not any where close to WLS FM, so I doubt CBS FM will risk a major messing with the music unless there is a money demo crisis.

The thing is with K-Hits, they already had WLS-FM well established as a competitor. And I don't think their music is all that different from CBS-FM's - mostly just less 60's, presumably to distinguish themselves from WLS-FM. The main difference is that the presentation is more 80's style with resings of old Z100 jingles and jocks who were on Chicago radio in the 80's. Of course, with Earl Mann doing voiceovers for both stations now, that's one less difference.

Here is what it sounded like. This is a promo for ABC's shows from 1979 including "Happy Days", "Angie" and "Three's Company". It was done by Ernie Anderson, the guy who did the ABC promos for years and also the spokesperson for the Sega Master System commercials, you remember the slogan "The challenge will always be there." this sounded a lot similar to the one you'll hear on CBS-FM which is Earl Mann, and he is sounded a lot like Ernie Anderson.

I noticed that the top-of-the-hour ID is now entirely voiced by Earl Mann (well, other than the Frank Sinatra sample and the sung no-longer-legal ID). Previously, they still had Ziggie doing the "WCBS-FM and HD1" portion. I'm hearing Earl's liners in a lot of other places too. Ziggie still shows up in station event, giveaway, and Hall of Fame promos, as well as some older ID's that are still used, but it seems like he's becoming relegated to a secondary station voice. I remember that Ziggie also got "demoted" in this sense when they started using Chuck Riley for voiceovers in 2004-05.
