who is the top of the hr voice on wcbsfm?

Thanks mjb - I could not think of the name Chuck Riley. I've been hearing more of Earl Mann's voice on CBS-FM lately and still not liking it.

And who would never forget, Joe McCoy. He was a PD at the time when he was doing promos and stuff like that. Joe McCoy was a great guy who put CBS-FM on the map for many years. he also did the contests and concert promos. Bobby Jay at the time who usually did the promos for Richard Nader's Doo-Wop show for years and years. I miss Joe.
 
Yeah, the more I think about it, I don't really understand this decision. I don't think it makes much sense to have two "deep voice guys" - it just makes the station sound inconsistent. If they wanted to add a female or lighter-sounding male voice to complement Ziggie, I could understand that a bit more. Plus, while there's nothing wrong with Earl Mann's delivery, Ziggie to me has been THE voice of CBS-FM - big and booming yet warm and friendly, and as much a part of their signature sound as their music, jingles, and DJ's. I'd say he fits just as well with the current iteration of CBS-FM as the old "oldies" incarnation.

But of course, I fully realize that the average listener won't give much, if any, thought to who the station voice is.
 
When I worked at WSEN (a Buckley station BTW) we had Ziggy. Don't know if WDRC used him. He added a lot of class and professionalism to the air sound. They stopped using him, probably a $$ issue. The station has gone down hill ever since. If I had a chance to use him, I would. 2nd choice - Charlie Van Dyke.
