35 years of service at the same station. That probably means he'll be the first one lynched when Citadel takes the Axe out again. The most loyal employees are the ones who usually end up getting the shaft in the end.

Why bother even saying anything, John? We get it, you hate how radio has changed....we all know how corporations are running things these days...this isn't about that, it is about spotlighting something POSITIVE. Don't bother responding as I don't want to hear it. Just classless

Not sure if this thread was ever started and it started to take a life in the "What ever happened too....." thread.

My nominees for 2009 are......

Mike Sheridan Traffic net and Metro

Norm Jagonlizer (spelling) 101.5 WLKW and other re-incarnations of the format

Carolyn Fox -WGNG 55 am and of course "The dogs Breakfast on WHJY

Rudy Cheeks- WHJY WPRO and WHJJ

TJ Napp WPRO

Gary Degraide WPJB and WWLI and now "SHINE 1220"

I still want to stick with my original list but add one more.

"JON From Alperts" well the guy who voiced him anyway.I forget his name. That is a voice you will hear no more because there is no more Alperts.

He was a voice guy in Seattle.
I hear him elsewhere in my travels.

I nominate Tommy VanScoy.

But SERIOUSLY...

The list of this year's inductees appears in this morning's national trades: Jack Comley, George Patrick Duffy, Carolyn Fox, Daniel “Giovanni” Centofanti, Jimmy Gray, Norm Jagolinzer, Jim Mendes and Don Pardo.

This is a GREAT selection, of characters who shaped radio here. Some of these names won't ring-a-bell with many of today's listeners, but their voices were the soundtrack of Rhode Island. Gio still is. This recognition isn't just well-deserved; it should remind us of what made radio such-a-part-of peoples' lives during their time on-air here.

This crop, and last year's inaugural inductees, will be hard to match next year.

I can still hear Jimmy playing a Tom Jones song & saying "every time I play that a woman drives by the station & throws her panties out the window". When you remember specific things personalities used to say then you know they belong in the Hall Of Fame.

I don't know much about a couple of the people elected this year but it's a good list. The only one I really had questions about since this began was Arlene Violet anyway. I was kinda hoping Charles would get in this year since he's the last of the red-hot-currently-employed-at-Clear-Channel people that would stand any kind of a chance. Most who worked there and are qualified candidates are long gone.

Its a great selection for sure. If the average 37,38, 39 year old female currently listens to PRO-FM now. More than likely she has
listened to PRO-FM in the past (high school, college). And will remember Jimmy Gray as PRO-FM's morning man. Especially if she hears
a clip that jolts her memory.

Holland many posts ago. You wrote something about how the average listener doesn't recall call letters. But remembers frequency
numbers (i.e. 92.3). I recently caught this couple talking favorite radio stations at the supermarket. And they just mentioned
the frequency & never the calls..

Congrats to all the HOF inductees. In particular, I remember Jimmy giving me some great advice 40 years ago when I was a kid with my first on air job at beautiful music WPRO-FM. It would have been easy to just do the "star" thing, but Jimmy was always willing to share stories and answer my dozens of questions, and for that I have always been appreciative.

Now Norm, I trained him to run the board at Pro-FM! What a great guy. Worked with him again at WLKW. A great voice and someone I feel was very under appreciated in the market (except by his listeners!), probably due to the background nature of the format he worked. Glad to see he is getting some long overdue recognition!

Yes I'm all for positive. You are right. I was wrong. I apologize. I just wish radio could be the way that it once was. Where long time employees get rewarded for their loyalty. I am in no way attacking the hard working employees who dedciate their lives to this business. I am attacking the corporations who have ruined the medium that was once so great.
