The more I think of it, if you disregard the kind of radio or music you may like you almost have to look at both Eddie Zack & Jim Mendes as pioneers who have chalked up enough accomplishments to deserve posthumous induction.

Yes, Eddie Zack should probably be given first consideration. I totally forgot about him in my earlier post, but his accomplishments on radio are many. Just in longevity alone, his show was on the radio and or tv in one form or another for 60 years, not to mention coast to coast on network for awhile.

I just realized Sherm Strickhauser was in the inaugural installation of the RIRHOF. Excellent choice, as well as Chuck Stevens. Joe Thomas should not be overlooked; a local boy who managed to make a very long career in Rhode Island radio.
Eddie Zack was a local treasure with national quality talent.

Mike Sheridan is a great choice because he was THE FIRST Traffic Reporter in Providence radio.WSNE was the first I believe to do traffic updates and then of course Tony Dibiasio.

Mike's the ironman alrighty, but not the first.
And, as a former WSNE PD, I can state that WSNE sure wasn't the first station to do traffic.
The-first-of-three-times-I-moved-to-RI, 1974, WHIM -- a 1110AM simulcasting on the-frequency-now-occupied-by WHJY -- was a Country station. They had billboards on 95 and I-95 touting their morning show "Pappy & Cap'n Jack."
"Pappy" was the aforementioned Philbrook, who, if I remember this correctly, started as Chief Engineer there (?).
"Cap'n Jack" was a traffic reporter IN A HELICOPTER.

Tony D and Joe Fusco on WPRO go back a long time ago (I can remember Tony flying over the Outlet fire during a report and not compensating for the updrafts from the fire and on air sounding VERY worried) and there was also the CVS Samaritan driver that got killed on duty who's name escapes me; but traffic has been a part of the market for maybe 25 years, if not longer....

Pappy Philbrook was a great engineer before and after his dj days. This is a clip from the Phoenix from 2005 after he died.

John Scanlon was the CVS Samaritan driver that died. I don't remember the specifics. But his reports were
featured on 920 WJAR-AM.
Longtime voiceguy for WPRI-TV. And former WHIM AM/FM jock Jim O'Brien should be inducted into the Hall Of Fame.
And YES WHIM AM/FM did have an eye in the sky.
Having worked at one of the stations that Pappy was chief engineer for in East Providence. The man could take something that was completely broken. And make it better than new!!! He is missed!!
