Who was the first Asian American woman to anchor in San Diego?

Gina Lew at KFMB-TV had to be among the first: she anchored morning and noon news. I think she was anchoring before Marianne Kushi came to town.

Thanks for coming up with that name: I kept thinking there's some prominent Japanese-American name I've forgotten. She joined KCST (now KNSD) as an anchor in 1987. She co-anchored with Marty Levine.

Denise Yamada is actually only half-Japanese, and when she was on the air, emphasized her Asian facial characteristics with makeup. She is half-Croatian. When Denise was anchoring in Portland, OR, she used her true family name, Kovasevic, on the air. She only started using the name "Yamada" (her mother's maiden name) when she was at ABC's "Good Morning America."
