Does anybody know this. I remember seeing these commercials as a kid. A white background with some weird dude with a beird. Any idea?

Murph! I remember that one well! He was in a straight jacket, getting hauled away to the funny farm. (The happy home, with trees and flowers and chirping birds and basket weavers who sit and smile and twiddle their thumbs and toes HA HA!)

Murphy in the morning was a big biller for Q. The Switch parties were very profitable. Q101 was the equivalent of what a Hot AC is today. Very white. Beth, Pat Bentkowski in the morn with Murphy. Good morning show back then, very yuppie oriented.

the stuff they used to do was hhhhiiiiiilarious.
when they did appearances at the club i used to dj in - the place would be wall to wall on a wednesday night. (the beach parties @ s.o.p. in palatine? yeah!)
for mornings back in the day - nobody could beat murphy....but johnny b...

And it seems to me that Q101 flipped to what was initially more AAA than modern simply because they thought that Murphy could work in that format (I had heard that they wanted to flip to country but Murphy said that he would walk if they went there). Turned out he really didn't fit, especially when they did break out the Nirvana and Pearl Jam records after about six months in, and he left when the contract ran out.
