Won't happen they dont have the rights to use Scott Shannon on air. And CBS wont let them.
Radioinsight.com is reporting that new calls for 100.3 is KKLQ FM many of u now that use to be call for San diego for Q106
Today (as I post) Friday 11/10/2017 really should be the last day of 100.3 The Sound as it is Day 45
of the 30-45 day window after the original announcement of the station sale.
It was to be by day 45 that the transfer should take place.

That call sign is already used in Fargo North Dakota.
they r moving call sign from there to here and they r getting new calls too
Fargo will get calls KLDQ FM and la get KKLQ
I still have a Q106 tshirt from the old San Diego station back in the 80's. I can't fit into it anymore (bear smiles)

This has to be the longest farewell in the history of radio.
Sometime thursday is the day just heard it 100.3
And has now devolved into one big pity party.

Actually, (and I am sure David E. among others has an opinion on this), I have really been surprised that the LA Market has sustained two full time AOR/classic rock stations on major signals this far into the 2000s given its ethnic makeup and varied musical tastes which really do not support the format. I compare this to another town I spend some time in from time to time, Dallas, which I think has a couple of full time classic rockers as well (the main one being Lone Star 92.5, which I believe is a heritage rocker), but in a much more rock demo friendly metro.
I thought either the Sound or KLOS would go by the wayside around five years ago or when Bonneville eventually sold. I am pretty confident that this week will be the last time LA sees two full power FM signals devoted to classic rock. I'm not up for pity parties, but it is still a sad day nevertheless.
Had to drive from the Westside to Agoura Hills today and thought I would tune in to see if they were still on the air. Some lowlights...Uncle Joe reassuring folks his beloved "Uncle Joe's Garage" (or whatever) will go on...listener phone calls lamenting the loss of the station, only to request some long-lost gem like "Layla"...and hearing the same ol' overplayed songs that would always make me change the channel. It felt like a long, slow death march.
For the ride home, it was 88.5 all the way!

IIRC The Sound was once a pretty cool AAA. IIRC for the last few years it's been a standard Classic Hits/Classic Rock outlet. Just wish it wasn't going noncommercial. When 93.1 The Arrow was playing classic rock and KLOS was doing its thing, it was cool. Always wished a KNAC clone would come back. However Active Rock has been weak for many years now and the youth are not steered anywhere NEAR that direction anymore.
