Who's in control of the radio airwaves around here?

I have a big question to ask - just who the hell is in control of what goes through the radio airwaves around Dallas and Fort Worth, anyway? Just who are these "journal entry writers" hired by Arbitron, anyway - and why does it seem that each and every person writing diary samples for the ratings seem to be biased against GOOD radio stations, anyway? Seems to me that, until the year 2000, these people would have probably NEVER been put in place to tell Arbitron that they listen to such-and-such station when they already think they own the world as it was. Back in 1997, Arbitron didn't - or COULDN'T - think that way. Now look at us, in Summer of 2008.

And about the program directors - what the hell have they been smoking? Had the Russ Martin incident happened in 1997, Russ Martin would have automatically been fired. Today, he's allowed to go back on the air, scott-free, because we have people like Gavin Spittle helping him run things (which, back in 1997, would also not have been allowed to happen as Gavin would have been in HUGE trouble for letting it happen in the first place - fines and penalties galore would have been placed on his head if it were allowed to happen in 1997).

Tell me - why can't the people handling things in 2008 be a hell of a lot more like the people who ran things in 1997? And if they can, why aren't they?

Simple answer... Because the owners are greedy.

ARB hasn't changed their basic methodology in DFW in the last 10 years.

Most stations HAVE dramatically cut their talent budgets in the last 10 years.

There hasn't been THAT much change in the top 20 stations in the last 10 years.

If YOUR definition of a "good" station isn't reflected in the ratings, well.......

It's all about the money.............everything else doesn't matter.

Is it safe to assume you got out of radio in 1997??
