Why is Country Radio 107 Coming Out My TV speakers?!???

TV upstairs in a home in Ridgeville, one of 3 sets in the house, has a country station coming out the speakers. Country 107 FM. No matter what channel you put the set on, 3, 4, 5, Video Input 1, Video 2, ect...you can still hear the country music. Disconnected the cable box and the country station is still there.

No visible transmitters or repeaters in the area...its the only tv in the house that does this. A SONY 32 inch. Just started up about a month ago. Why is it doing this? What can done to correct the problem. Cant watch any TV with Country 107 coming out the speakers non stop.

Anybody have any idea what is up?

well, perhaps the tv has a very sensitive tuner AND you have to take into consideration you live (ridgeville) about 4 miles from a 100,000 watt station with a 1,000 foot tower. its common with a station near me - its only 50,000 watts at about 500 feet and more than 8 miles from here, yet on certain channels it blasts through.

The station is licensed to St. George, but back in the mid 80's they moved the transmitter to the ridgeville stick to attempt to become a Charleston station. The call letters at the time were WKQB and they were a direct competitor to WSSX.

The only real solutions to your problems are:

1. Buy a new Tv and hope that it doesn't have the same problem
2. Don't watch TV
3. Move

Try checking the coaxial cable cconnections to the TV and make sure they are secure.
Radio Shack makes a FM filter for TV sets that will help.

I disconnected the cables and box to the tv, leaving the unit standing alone, eliminating that problem. Im guessing the 100,000 watts and 1000 foot tower just down the block could be the problem. Does that tower belong to whoever this 107 fm is? Cant see it from the house. Never noticed it. Where exactly is the tower located?

Would it be fair to say that at some point 2 months ago (exact date unknown) this one tv tuner got slightly more sensitive, maybe via electrical storm, and started picking up the 107 signal? As I said, it only happens to this one TV. the other 3 in the house are fine.

If so, the logical conclusion is get a new tv.

Si? ;D

Most likely the tower is owned by Citadel Communications. The office for the station is somewhere in Charleston, SC. Call letters today at WNKT-FM. Here is a link to a map where the tower is located in Ridgeville. http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=33.08639,+-80.37583+(WNKT-FM)&om=1
