Why no wrestling shows on all sports signals

If you all think that major sports are not fixed in some way you have a lot to learn…or won’t accept it…

Excuse me? The specific outcomes of individual pro football, basketball, baseball, and hockey games are not determined in advance. Neither, by the way, are the outcomes of Olympic contests. If any of those games were to be "fixed" in advance like that, you can trust me in saying that the lawsuits would be flying and state investigations would be in full swing against whoever was responsible for fixing individual professional sports contests to have a predetermined outcome.

The outcome doesn't have to be predetermined for fixing to occur now that, in most states, it's legal to bet on in-game events and individual players performances. Closer Emanuel Clase of the Guardians has been suspended. His alleged offense: Tipping off a friend that he wasn't going to throw a pitch over a certain speed (96 mph, IIRC) to the first batter he faced in that night's game, should he be called upon to pitch in it. Clase usually throws close to 100 mph. Yes, you can bet on such a thing. The friend bet (for himself and Clase) on what turned out to be a sure thing, as the fastest pitch Clase threw was 94 mph.

Several years ago, the NBA had a crooked referee, Tim Donaghy, who again was not changing the outcome of games but influencing the results of so-called "proposition bets." He got caught, but who's to say other officials aren't doing the same thing. Players have been accused of faking or exaggerating injuries so they can be pulled from games early, ruining the bets of gamblers who had wagered that they'd score at least 20 points or grab at least 10 rebounds. Again, no one is cheated except for the gamblers.

Anyone who believes funny business isn't going on in professional or college sports needs to take off the rose-colored glasses. The leagues are in bed with the legal betting services. They're not going to risk losing all public trust (and face really serious fraud charges) by scripting games or series or seasons. But the manipulation of statistics within the game, as the game is being played? That is way too easy to do and get away with, and the partnership (including advertising) with the Draft Kings and Fanduels of the world is way too lucrative for the league, its teams, and its television partners for an all-out effort to sniff it out to ever happen.
