I never been to those areas you mentioned Needham, Dedham, Foxboro.
I work in Allston, not far from Packards Corner on the weekend, I can not these stations from Comply-Packards Corner (93.7, 94.5, 97.7, 98.5, 101.7, and 103.3) Those are the major stations I can not get inside Boston, on ANY Walkamn, NEW and OLD, HD and NOT HD. I also can not get all those pirate stations anywhere in Allston, I do get 87.7, but very staticy around Brighton Center. That's the only one that I get.
When I leave my work in Dorchester (Ashmont to JFK) I can get 87.7 and 101.3. Touch 106.1 comes in, ok in Ashmont area, but the I lose the signal after Fields Corner. I can get, from Ashmont to Just past Fields Corner (93.7, 94.5, 97.7, 98.5, 101.7, and 103.3) I get all those until just after Fields Corner. 93.7 fades in and out until I get to JFK. After JFK, I lose them all, as well as all those pirate stations.
Same in Brookline, Ma area, most of all of Brookline, Ma area I can not get all those stations. ON ANY WALKMAN, NEW, OLD, HD, NOT HD, MP3 Players, NEW PHONE/FM RADIO on the PHONE.
Maybe driving in a car with a good antanna you might be able to get those stations well, maybe if you live in those areas or work in those areas, you might be able to get those stations.
Once you get out of the city, you can get most of those major stations that I mentioned. Driving around (Revere area, I did pick up 101.3-DRIVING AROUND with a good car radio antanna) It did have static, but still listenable until I got to Salem, Ma and starting losing the signal. But on a regular radio, or walkman, I can not hear that station at all in that area as well as 87.7.
