I call BS. As someone who lives in "Sevierville" and who has "read the Facebook comments" you know that it can't be heard past Midway Road.

Depends on your car radio as well. To take the stations in question out of it, the radio in my car picks up the 106.3 ESPN station from Sevierville in deep West Knoxville. A friend of mine can't get it on his radio in downtown Knoxville. I never have a problem picking up either of the Jack signals, either and can't understand the need for the simulcast, but jumping into someone else's car, I've found that 106.7 doesn't come in very well in South Knoxville.
I don't have a problem picking up 98.7 anywhere in Knoxville, and I listened to that signal a great deal when it was Wild and the River. That is obviously not the experience that everyone is having.

Or on Gay Street. Not going to happen.

I haven't had a problem in Bearden, but, again, it appears my car radio is stronger than some.
My point is, if the signal wasn't too much to overcome for a music station broadcasting in stereo, then it's not going to be too much for a talk station in mono appealing to an audience used to dealing with the unreliability of AM radio.

That makes no sense seeing that the format has been on FM for more than 10 years.

Not 10 years, they moved to 100.3 in 2005. Prior to that, more than 2/3 of the combined ratings of WNOX AM/FM came from the AM frequency, according to Arbitron. Currently for the Sports Animal, it's about 50/50.

Are you denying they were on 99.1 prior to 2005?
99.1 is an FM station is it not?
