will KTAR ever be a "real" voice of Arizona again?

It boggles my mind - in light of news events from the past week alone, let alone today - why a station whose reputation was built upon on-air listener calls (textbook "talk radio") has doubled down on their "We Talk, You Listen" m.o. And I seriously wonder if they will ever again open up their phone lines when there's a major news story.

I can check out other "talk radio" stations in other towns on my TuneIn app when there's a major news story, and it seems like every other town, whether LA, NY, or even Sheboygan, will take listener calls so I can get a feel for what the town thinks. And yet, there doesn't seem to be any news story serious enough for 92.3 to extend the dialogue beyond their reporters and to listeners. Why not? What makes their pre-selected guest's opinions any more cogent than what they'd get from some on-air calls?

I just don't understand thought process going on over there. You could have a major earthquake hit downtown Phoenix - heck, you could even get alien attack (the UFO little green men kind of aliens) - and the only programming change would Dumb & Dumber extending into Ramsey. I really, really miss the on-air calls on days like these. :(

Maybe it's me, but when a station takes calls after a disaster, it tells me that they've run out of things to say, and there's nothing new to report. It's the clue that it's ok to turn off the radio.

For my money, KTAR has always been the news station. Is a random caller's opinion more informative than someone who actually has some expertise in the area? Uninformed guests suck and are as bad as random callers, but news trumps both.

I don't get your fixation with taking calls for the sake of taking calls, especially since most callers suck. Ramsey proves that point night after night.

Exactly right. The poster longs for the days of "..is it raining where you are" and Aunt Edna complaining about how wilted her petunias are this time of year.

KTweetAR is the radio news station. And they aint going back to the future!

I had to turn off the radio when the puke voice just had to do a promo over synth music embellishing the deaths of 19 firefighters in his most sincere insincere voice. Absolutely no class and a slap in the face to the families that are still trying to process what has just happened to them. The CHEEZY PUKE VOICE has to go. It's disgusting.

Power should have stayed there, and yes, I am showing bias. ;) It's not that I like Power now, but I liked what it once was.

Same reason I had to turn it off. Asking friends and family of those firefighters how they feel? Really? How the *bleep* do you think they feel? ::) And, yeah, the imaging really takes the cake.
