Will somebody at WOR please rein-in Jennifer Nittoso and Alice Stockton Rossini?

These women are both capable broadcasters, yet at WOR they're allowed (or perhaps encouraged) to engage in the most cringe-worthy attempts at humor. It's ruining the John Gambling show, at least for me, especially Nittoso who's hysterical giggling and cackling interrupts the flow every ten minutes. Rossini's "featurettes" with unnecessary vamping during Joe Bartlet's newscasts fall absolutely flat.

Once upon a time, someone known as a "Program Director" would take such persons aside and ask them to please tone it down and start acting professional. But I guess that luxury no longer exists.

Funny I like Jennifer. Though WOR hasn't figured out what to do with her. She shined at WABC with Lionel, Noam, Hannity and others. Maybe she just needs to find her way at WOR

I think that's correct. When Jennifer filled in on the Curtis & Kuby show she sounded cute and perky and she wasn't trying to be something she's not -- a humorist.

Now she'd doing what I call "vamping" -- not really having anything relevant or funny to say but intoning mundane comments to make them SOUND funny -- then giggling to reinforce the idea that humor has occurred. It's difficult to explain in written words it but it's forced and it falls flat.

But I don't think its really up to Jennifer to find her way -- after all she's probably in a tiny booth somewhere 8 hours a day delivering reports to numerous stations. I wouldn't blame her for being punch-drunk. It's up to WOR management, and perhaps the Gambling team, to help her tailor her delivery to better fit the morning show.

I personally thought the morning show was better and less cluttered with J.J. Kennedy (who really does have a sense of humor) doing both traffic and weather, but that's a different discussion.

Found she had no personality when she was on WABC doing weather. Very bland and uninvolved.

And that was perfect! Now she's trying to force a personality. WOR's morning show already has three in-studio personalities -- it doesn't need a remote fourth voice attempting to do shtick.

Jennnifer is at her best delivering the weather straight. Same is true for the news people WOR now uses. Patty Steele, for example deliver the news smoothly and professionally without trying to call attention to herself, while Alice Stockton Rossini vamps her way through the copy almost begging, "Hey, look at me!" I'm not a WINS listener but I can't imagine she did that over there for more than two decades. I have to think WOR is somehow encouraging this silliness.

Do they still have a PD? Is it still that non talk guy Tom Cutty? Perhaps that's the reason...

Yesterday morning Ms. Rossini yucked her way through a truly unfunny story about a sicko who advertised his two year old baby for sale on Craig's List. Her "report" included baby sounds throughout.

Around 9 am I tuned to WNYM and heard the same nauseating production. Later on WOR Mark Simone was kvelling about how WOR has the best team of local reporters in NY, as though they were exclusive to WOR.

You'd think someone from WOR or WNYM or whichever traffic outfit employs Rossini would refuse to let her air this garbage.

from what I can tell it seems to bwe similar production value to WEMP's feature stories actually which she also did plenty of.

Exactly, and I think she was largely responsible for sinking WEMP. She had a lot of airtime there and thanks to her cutesy nonsense the station sounded like a joke.

Ms. Rossini was at it again this morning with a fluff piece about John McCain playing a game on his phone during the hearings about whether we should strike Syria.

The behavior of our leaders is disgraceful enough, with John Kerry yucking it up over procedure while pushing for an event that could well lead to more loss of life and bloodshed for out troops. The news media shouldn't make light of it. This woman who calls herself a "journalist" should take her act to a comedy club, except that her "humor" probably wouldn't cut it.

Most of all, shame on Clear Channel for allowing this stuff on their air under the guise of news.
