Will The Patriot Act or Has The Patriot Act Affected News Reporting

Wondering if the incident with the unnamed all news station in this city is just the first of many incidents of where radio management has buckled to the government to spike a story in the name of national security.

Have a hunch this last issue wasn't the first, but only rose to our consciousness because the reporter on the story had the guts to speak out.

Wonder what other stories since The Patriot Act have been spiked locally and nationally. Since there are really no locally owned broadcast facilities there probably isn't a dimes worth of difference between action to spike on the local or national level.

A wholly worth while topic that I am surprised this board did not jump on …..oh, I forgot we would rather bash each other, personally.

This should be cause for alarm by everyone reading this board. The patriot act shows why concentration of media in the hands of the few will prevent dissenting opinions and non-conforming forms of speech from coming to light. The current administration used the fear of terror strikes to make people afraid. Then used the patriot act as a blanket to quell the fear. However, what the patriot act really allows is the suspension of the bill of right when the government deems it necessary. Freedom of speech but only that speech which is pro “the-current-administration” and its policies.
